I know that isilox will let me load a file onto the card using a cf reader, but I don't know isilo will see it, once I load the card.

 

I didn't think WordSmith could, I used a cf reader to load a doc file and even though WordSmith saw the card, I couldn't see the file.

Isilo does does have multiple vfs, worked without a problem! The secret is what you do in Isilox. You knew that already, forgive me I'm a newb and the "gee whiz" factor is still pretty high.

Here are answers I got when I contacted the dev. of these 2 apps.

AcidImage:
"AcidImage does, in theory, have support for multiple VFS volumes, but it hasn't really been tested very much (since there haven't really been many devices with multiple VFS volumes!!)

The CF card driver is really fascinating - we'll contact these guys and see if we can fix up the multi-card support. It shouldn't be too hard to get things sorted out."

And Amir confirmed that Eruware and RedMercury have been in touch.

AJVMP3:
Question: So far we can play MP3 with the Sony Audio player but by "masquerading" the Memory Stick... that means we can't access MP3 on both cards.
If you include this option in AJVMP3, it will be more than welcome!

Answer (short): We will support it hopefully without hacks.

No, you don' t need to do anything in isiloX. Just put any iSilo docs in /palm/programs/iSilo on CF and isilo will display them all (both CF and MS). You can also navigate in iSilo using "open" to any other folder if you chose to put them somewhere else.

No secret at all.

To use isilox:

1.When you have your cf card in the reader (your cf card should already be formatted), create an isilo folder in the programs directory.

2. In isilox: when creating new content, go into the properties folder and hit the destination tab. Delete the default hotsync destination.

3. hit the "folder" button under "add new destination" . (Its at the bottom). Click on the link that lists your cf reader and then isilo folder on your cf card.

4. Convert the document and then remount your cf card. isilo will automatically see the new content even though its a different card.

I hope that was clear enough, if not tell me and I'll try and explain it better.

Good news on Acid Image!!! I plan to use my Cf card primarily for pics and was hoping that I wouldn't have to use "masquerade".
Has anyone mentioned Mapopolis' behaviour yet?

Mapopolis works fine with CF. Any maps you put in /palm/programs/mapopolis on CF and MS will all be listed together automatically.

Splashphoto supports multiple VFS, for viewing. When you install an image through the PC application though, it uses the MS.

Kinoma? I moved a file that works fine in Palm/Programs/kinoma to CF/Programs/kinoma and it doesn't see it.

It worked fine for me. The movies on the MS show up with a little memory stick icon and the ones on CF will actually show up with a little CF icon. You can even have the same file name in both cards and it will still work.

I moved with McFile to Card 3 (card 2 is listed but has no access) to Palm/Programs/Kinoma. Is that the where yours' is placed, Rob__Squared? If so, maybe I've mispelled something or don't have the latest version of Kinoma. I'd really appreciate any help - it would make my investment in the CF setup worthwhile.

mcullum- Quick Office does NOT work with multiple cards. At least not for me. I have NZ90 and Eruware CF driver. Wordsmith works fine but I can't get QO to work. Let me know if you got it to work. Thanks.

I have tried Acidimage and Splashphoto. Acidimage freezes after reading the directory contains photos when both cards are mounted. Splashphoto just cannot recognize CF.

Plucker works great with multiple VFS cards. My guess is that it would even work with three or four if it were possible (looking at the source). BUT it crashes (either in search or view) with the new driver if caching is on. :-(
