Hi -
I am about to become a TG50 owner. I'd been a long time Palm user... currently a dying IIIC.
My question: What's the best way to sync my current data base with the TG50?
I am told one can't use the old Palm OS software anymore... that this needs to be deleted from the PC before installing the new Sony Palm OS.
So how does one transfer the actual data fro old to new... IR perhaps?
One other question: I have read conflicting accounts on various web sites about whether Documents to Go is actually included on the Sony software CD. Some say they found it there... others say they didn't.
Thanks in advance for your answers.
Cheers, Bob

Hi Bob! Welcome!
Review the instructions found in this thread (http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6524).
They are VERY thorough (and applicable to your situation, not just the NX), and explain the best way to move your data to your new PDA with a minimum of problems.
Good luck, but above all HAVE FUN! :D

Thanks Yellow Rose -
I read that over... very helpful.
One other question: Can the transfer of material from my Palm IIIC to the Clie TG50 also be accomplished by beaming the entire adress book, todo list and memo list from the IIIC to the 50?

Yes, but better to sync it( beaming takes a while)

When deleteing or moving to a new version of Palm desktop, the uninstall doesn't wipe out any user data ( in my experience anyway) Install the new software, select your old username and all should sync without a hitch. The only thing to look for is cross compatability with software from on OS to another. IE moving from OS 4.1 to OS 5

Regards, Bob Yup, beaming would work if that's what you'd prefer . . . I've never tempted fate to find out if my user info 'stayed put' or not when uninstalling/reinstalling the desktop (like stumper) . . . what I usually do when I upgrade, is MOVE my user file OUT of the palm directory, then, double click on the datebook, memo & address .dba files to install them to the new PDA (after I install the new desktop & hotsync is working).
Works like a charm every time.
I always make sure I have the latest version of programs (and in some cases there are 'old' and 'OS5' versions of programs) and if there are any pertinent databases for other programs that I don't want to lose, that don't have desktop conduits, then I also reinstall those databases.
For example, I do a fresh install of handyshopper, but load my databases back in from the 'old' user file.
It's CERTAINLY not as complicated as I'm making it sound, and I'm sure you'll work it out just fine. LOL! Just don't do it if you're in a rush!
