I checked this site out a while ago--My problem didn't actually get solved, but I liked the community and I thought I'd give it another shot. ;D
I'm not sure if this is in the right section, so feel free to move it.

I consider myself an avid user of Documents ToGo, because I love writing stories on the go and I occasionally find use of it for homework when my computer's in use by someone else in the family. Therefore, I use it frequently, and I also frequently find issues.

The most common issue I have is a failed translation. The HotSync Log on my Palm Tungsten E2 states that, "Translation failed; Could not create document on Desktop"--the computer's log says something to the same effect.

Does anyone know what causes this "error?" The log itself doesn't go into details, and it certainly doesn't help to copy/paste the document into a separate document, whether its a native Word file or a Word ToGo file. In the past, I've attempted to get a similarly corrupted file onto my PC by copying sections of it into separate files--I also hoped to catch the section which was being problematic, but all of the split pieces came through. So--what's wrong?

Thanks if you've had enough experience with this to help out. I get the impression that a lot of problem solving with PC's and PDA's is a lot of guess-and-check if it's unfamiliar.

I have never seen this error message. Have you searched DataViz's support pages?

No, I haven't, should I?

;D I'll go do that.

EDIT: Okay, this is kind of funny. DataViz's Support doesn't seem to have my specific problem on record for the E2, but I was just randomly searching my PDA's Memory Card on the PC, and found the file which wasn't translating. It's supposed to be on the Memory Card, of course, but I'm not sure if there are other documents which should have been in that folder. I still don't know why it doesn't want to HotSync, but at least I can access it, fully updated.

I hope that file was either in the Documents or DXTG folder.

Yes, it was in the Documents folder...all alone.

But that still doesn't explain why HotSync is so lazy. :-(
