Hello, I am new here and a little green when it comes to the T|X, although I have had a m125 for a number of years.
I was wondering about how feasible it is to surf the internet on the T|X? Some people have implied that it is really only reasonable to check email. Is this true because I would be looking forward to more than just checking email.
Thanks,
bvsciguy,
prospective T|X owner

Well I'm posting this responce from my TX...
I personally use my TX to surf all the time. On most days, I use it to surf more often than my desktop.

Well that sure helps, so the speed must compare fairly closely to a laptop on the same connection?
BTW, Thanks for such a quick reply.

Yeah same I just got my new tx and lovin it! Lazer that comes with your tx is ok but really I am looking for a new browser (waiting for universe 3!)
I find I use Dmitry's modified NetFront with MaxX most of the time, and only use Blazer on the sites that don't work well with NetFront. Dmitry's new zooming hack (to display 640x640) for his custom NetFront will be icing on the cake when it's finished. I found the other trick is to make sure you have LOTS of DB Cache free, and run NetFront at 416MHz instead of 312Mhz. Of course, I'm still looking for a browser-friendly text entry system to use for forums like this one :)

So, when you say that you are brosing the forum here on the T|X, you probably are talking about the mobile version, right?

i'd like to also point out the application QuickNews. It's an RSS program for Palm. I tend to use this first and then if I find a intresting story will then open that story in the web browser. You can enter as many RSS feeds as you like and then Update them all or individually. Here's their URL http://standalone.com/palmos/quick_news/ .

Browsing on blazer isnt bad, especially if you turn off the CSS support (makes it faster). Also, with some sites, using services like www.Skweezer.net helps optimize the pages to be displayed on a pda. And, 1src looks just fine on TX ;-). You might also want to try Opera Mini, its supposed to be the fastest browser out there right now (although the rendering is weird to say the least :D )

opera "rendering"? what is does is "mangling". Makes you feel like you're back in 1990 using a textonly browser

Pure ownage. Opera seems a lot slower on my T|X cuz it doesn;t render (mangle?) the page until everything has been converted, while with blazer, netfront... uhh everything else? It rends as it goes so if you find you rlink you don't have to wait. Has anyone had problems running both NF and Blazer?

Dimitry, cmon, LYNX was fun, even if a little masochistic :D For me Opera was ok, but i experienced problems with Java (freezing, resets, etc) so I tend to use blazer right now, but staying in high hopes about Universe (especially once it starts supporting cyrillics) and NetFront 3.5 (Access page said PalmOS will be supported).

Hi bvsciguy and welcome to the board and congrats on your TX. I just wanted to provide a link of the basics for surfing the net on your TX. You mentioned you were a little "green" so I thought any help will do. The link will explain to you:
* Types of Wi-Fi connections
* What you'll need
* Set up the Wi-Fi connection
* HotSync wirelessly over the network
Good luck, here is the link:

Yeah I should get around to putting Dimitry's modified on my tx esp with maxx just have to find the file (hardly on my pc of late and i have it somewhere) but i still wish I could have picsel browser (with full English support and multiple tabs) on my palm and that would be the application I wouldn't mind passing over my money for one little bita and that would be to me the killer app that would save palms browsing experience!
