Great googly moogly! I have a doozy of a vid I shot at Circuit City today on the NX70V that shows the speed difference between PXA250 200Mhz vs. PXA255 400Mhz.

Anyone care to host it? It's about 300KB.

I will! Email it to rob@battl.com. I'll put it up on my site for a few days and permenently on my ftp.

how did you show the speed difference??

Ran GTS side by side. Recorded how fast they load the game, and how fast they rotates the car in attract screen.

Let's just say, on the T|C, the game was running way too fast for me to play well. @_o

Would have loved to load Flash player on the T|C. That would have been really telling.

You should retitle your tag: PXA255 whore. ;)

Seriously though, I can't wait for a NX with that kind of power either. Flash should really benefit, and some of those SWF files I have on the NX might become playable! :D

That's me!!!

I'm hoping SONY ships player 6 with the new Clie's, then I will definitely upgrade. With the SONY's graphic accelerator and a PXA255 Flash should ROCK!!! Not to mention that the little keyboard is fun when apps actually use it.

Macromedia is a BASTARD for the highway robbery found at this link:

http://dynamic.macromedia.com/bin/MM/store/US/product.jsp?category=/Software/Development/StandAlones/FlashPlayer&type=FULL

I sent them an e-mail expressing my love for this ludicrous price.

Are they F'n insane?!?!??! $500 just to play flash on a PPC??!?

JackAxe

That's what I thought. It's $500 a year if I want to create projectors for the PPC and distribute them. This is crap since the PC and Mac projectors can be freeley distributed without any type of license BS.

I can play SWF files on my PPC for free. but to play them full screen I had to buy a 15 dollar app. OoooOOOoohh 320x240. Normally they would play throught Pocket IE. Or for $500 through a projector. AaaaArrRRrGGgghhhHHh!!!

Macromedia should release an update for my full version of Flash which can actually create Flash content that would allow me to save a PPC projector. And it should be FREE!!!

Could you post a link for your site?

I don't think we can compare the TC with the TG, because they are like different classes. This is comparing Palm's newest model with sony's (sadly to say it) outdated model.

A TT vs. TG comparison is more reasonable.

When a TG55 comes out with 64mb RAM, maybe we can compare the TC to that, but not at this time.

I guess the comparison is based more on the configuration and feature set (both have keyboards, 320x320 screens, os5, wireless options). If they can't be compared, then the T|C can't really be compared to any palm powered unit on the market.

I think they compare up well, imo, similar price makes two things (of the same type) comparable.

I'm not comparing T|C to TG per say, but really the 400Mhz PXA255 in T|C vs the 200Mhz PXA250 in TG. These two models are perfect for comparing proc power since they both have a 320x320 16bit screens as well (I first started NX vs the T|C, but I didn't want people saying that the extra resolution of the NX didn't make for a good comparasin).

Yeah, I agree, it is logical to compare TC and TG. Just because Sony's product is *ugh* inferior with respect to processor speed and ram, doesn't mean we can't compare two products which are essentially aimed at the same market sharing similar features.

I still think there's more I like about the TG. Clie remote/enhanced IR, flip cover, light up keyboard, Sony compatibility, STEREO, voice recording and so forth. I haven't ran out of ram yet on my TG, nor have I required a speedier processor than I already have (heck, I did just fine with the 66MHz T665). The TC is nice, but to me not worth the hype.

Agreed. The screen is slightly better on the T/C than the TG, but not worth the upgrade in my mind. You lose bluetooth, flip cover, voice recording, better video playback, stereo audio, and sleek form factor. That said, if Sony releases an updated version of either the nx or tg that is slim, 400mhz, 32-64mb, I'll be all over it.

But stop and think about the amazing features you would gain.

Look, i think palm has one place in the PalmOS market - being a reason to get a sony :D

The advatages would be screen, wi-fi, ram, and processor. However, the screen on my TG is fine, I don't use wi-fi, and while I'd love the processor and ram, I have a 256 MS and the advantage of the processor would be lost for me as there is not stereo audio playback and movie player I've found to be better than Kinoma. If the TC had a stereo jack and bluetooth, however, I'd probably go for it (or I should say I wouldn't return it as I've had one for a couple of days but it's going back).

400MHz is nice but I could NEVER go back to 320x320.

Agreed. Even though some programs still don't use the 320*480 resolution reading eBooks on my NX70V is awesome. Also, with the VG my Graffiti is greatly improved because I can see my strokes on the screen. I never knew how bad my Graffiti was until I got my NX70V. It also explains as to why my printing has gotten so bad...

I agree, the TG50 and T|C are the same class of device, and can legitimately be compared.

And in my case, this is relevant because I've been trying to decide between the two for several weeks. (We got the wife a Zire 71 over an SJ33 just a few days ago; that only required her actually seeing the Z71.)

To help me, I built a little tool to weigh the advantages and disadvantages of the TG50 and T|C. For me, it generally lands on TG50, largely because I always carry my Palm in my shirt pocket and MP3 is decently important to me.

It's at...
http://www.kittycentral.net/tgtcform.html

Don't gripe too much if you don't like it. I did it for me, and added to it over time. But some interesting things came out. For example, I hadn't initially thought about the actual keyboard layouts, but the T|C one is more traditional... at the cost of having about ten fewer keys! Similarly, the TG50 has a jog-shuttle on the side (which might be worthless for lefties), while the T|C has the concentric button-ring. Lots of little things like that.

But I haven't been able to play with a T|C. The Zire 71 display just blows the Sony TG50 display away.

I'm lost.

Has the Tungsten C been lowered in price to US$350 already??
