Have any of you gotten a chance to read this article that is linked on msn dot com's front page? Wow, talk about uninformed  You know, I can't really put my finger on it... but it seems something really BIG is missing!!! Oh, well, maybe it'll come to me later  ha ha!
We all need to write the author a nice little blurb and tell her a few things about the "greener grass!" :D

As a relative newbie to PDA's (only really used them since last xmas) i can say palm is waaaaaaaaaay better than PPC's =P
I think people only like it cos, it reminds them of windows =)

Its a Microsoft website. Of course its going to make it sound like a Pocket PC is best way to go.
I'm sure there is an article there somewhere about the Xbox being the only game system worth buying.

Well.. I think the point is, the entire Clie line of handhelds was excluded. You can get great Multimedia function in a sub-$300 T665 or SJ33. If this woman is talking about "swiss-army-knife" PDA's, the first model she should have covered is the NX series.
Is Microsoft so scared of Sony that they will exclude them out of a writeup entirely? Or has this woman just been in a cave for a few years?

I love good ole bias. I saw a comparison between pocket PC and Palm on the microsoft website when I was researching what to buy and the bias was incredible when I look back. Although I think it is somewhat accurate they simply don't look at the whole palm picture while omitting pocket pc flaws.

As for this article, I agree lets include the Clie line where multimedia and high resolution screen is part of its selling point.
Secondly grafitti ain't that hard to learn, and I had never used it before. In fact I find it rather natural, it avoids dual strokes and whatnot, I find I usually write in grafitti on paper and have to try in order not to. They also underplay the fact that you can get many more programs, many free, for the palm than you can for pocket pc by saying you have Microsoft standards, I assume they mean the built in pocket excel and word programs, cough suck cough useless cough cough.
Also, with Sony's high res screen I find it quite nice to edit documents especially with the Doc-to-go that was included and is better than Microsofts built in pocket word and excel.

Hey - I checked out a Toshiba e740 for the wireless a few weeks ago (and returned it the day I heard the Tungsten C was coming out), and found myself going back to the Block Recognizer (aka Graffiti) - everything else just stank at recognizing my writing. Graffiti is awesome - has virtually no learning curve, and has better recognizition than all that PPC shiznat...
This is an interesting article. She makes it seem like she is giving a fair comparison of the two OS's, and the final result of her extensive research is PocketPc is better than Palm. Of course she can only come to this conclusion by not acknowledging the existence of Sony. She even flat out said the os4 is not cabable of playing mp3s, which we all know is totally untrue. As far as Graffiti goes, if you have a hard time learning, you are either dyslexic or just plain stupid. And what the hell kind of name is Kim Komando.

It reeks of Microsoft.

This article is so outrageous that it prompted feedback from me, too. Imagine a tech writer refering to PDAs as "gadgets" and comparing learning graffiti to learning the Russian alphabet! Utterly ridiculous.

Your article called 7 things to know before buying a PDA has a few errors in it. 1, palm os 4, and 3 for that matter, can play mp3's.Check out the sony Clie line. Mutimedea is their middle name(check page 112 in the may 2003 issue of PC magesine)( is microsoft afraid that the Clie line by sony will eradicate PPC's?) Bias Bias Bias, Graffitti has practicly NO learning curve you just say so to try to get PPC sales. Shame on you.2 ppc user friendly? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hitting X dosent even exit the program!! (he he snigger snigger)Trancriber ? I tried a freind IPAC and it turned A into L. He said trancribler was horrible, and that he never used it. 3 Sony has a budget molel, the SJ33. It has mp3 built in. It costs only $299.It is also multimedea freindly.PDA's gadgets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SHAME ON YOU FOR SAYING SUCH A HORRIBLE THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Basicly, the article is trash, and should be removed from the database.
This is what I put in feedback for the article.:)

Someone should direct her to these articles: Pocket PC's Mixed-Up Metaphor (http://www.brighthand.com/article/PPC_Metaphor)
Documents to Go: Better than Pocket Office? (http://www.brighthand.com/article/Office_comparison) (the answer is yes, BTW)
Office Documents Look Better On Palms Than on Pocket PCs (http://ptech.wsj.com/archive/ptech-20030206.html)And, not quite related -- BBC just did a write-up (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/2976143.stm) that, while not directly comparing Palms to PPCs, does feature a photo of an NZ90 with the caption "The Sony Clie combines many functions into one gadget." Swiss Army knife, indeed.

Definitely stinks of Microsoft. The age old battle boils right down to the fact that Bill Gates is pissed he didn't come up with the Palm OS. Palm always has been and always will be the best format for a handheld OS.

I heard a Kim Komando update on the radio the other day. I remember hoolering at her for omitting our CLie's and thinking how biased she sounded. Know I know....
