I downloaded the CD Striper, got myself some nifty purple memory sticks, read over the instructions SEVERAL times, loaded about 40 some odd songs tried half of them, and still the music will not go from the lap top TO the palm. why????

Are you putting them on the ms in palm/programs/msaudio?

I use the "SonicStage" program supplied with the CD. Just connect the CLIE through the cradle, the program detects it, and the files are converted to ATRAC3 (sorry, nifty white memory stick), and I have music.

You'll need to provide more info on whats not working. You can't get the files on the Clie, or it's not working once on the Clie?

If you're copying mp3's (not atrack) files to the purple sticks you can use sonicstage as the music isn't copy protected.
Just use the ms utility to make the clie appear as another drive on the PC and copy the files over in windows explorer.

Had the same problems myself, but the kind induhviduals here at Cliesource helped me out.
Memory sticks and Sonic stage are a debacle. You have to use magicgate whites ones. Personally think that MP3 format is a heck of a lot more user friendly anyway and once encoded you copy to your memory stick using msimport or msexport depending on your bent.
While your having fun with MP3's try out DVDx and video clips or movies! Search the threads for info on this.

As as simple test - you can try:
o On the Clie: MSImport
-- Have mp3 files in 128KBs - non VBR
o Copy mp3 files (non ATRAC) to MS using your file manager
o See if the Audio player will now play them
If this works, then ditch the Sony programs and use something like lame or even MusicMatch Jukebox to convert files - but there are some top quality Free conversion utils available on the web.
Good luck
