Is a 240x240 pixels screen automatically wider & higher than a 176 x 220 pixels screen?

No, it is dependent on physical pixel size. A Treo 700p has a 320x320 screen which is much smaller than an earlier Palm device's 160x160 screen. Even among the Tungsten and Zire models, the screen dimensions vary.

I was trying to compare the size of the Treo screen with this mobile phone
http://www.xplore.com.hk/m70_en.jsp
It's Display: 260K Color, 2.2” TFT 176 x 220 pixels, touch screen
What's the diagonal size of the Treo?

About 2.5" digonal screen for the Treo.
I'd be a bit worried about the res on the Xplore m70 because it is not a standard res which means that it might not be able to run most 3rd party palm apps.
