View Full Version : My Ux-50 Screen Flickers Off And On

I have had my UX-50 for about a year, and loved every minute of it.
Until today, when the screen on it started to flicker.
As I close the clamshell the screen flickers off and on. It remains on at any angle, but flickers (i.e. goes to black) as soon as I start to move the clamshell. The screen image is restored as soon as I stop moving the clamshell.
Can anyone help me with this?
It sounds like a simple enough fix, but I would prefer to not have to take it in somewhere for service for an exorbitant amount of money.
Please Help.

That's interesting. Is it only when your rotating the screen? I may be able to sell you some parts I've been meaning to get rid of. But it depends on whether or not its a hinge issue, a motherboard issue or a screen issue. I would be able to help with the hinge and screen (somewhat scratched) but not the motherboard. I have 2 dead motherboards and two UXs (UX50 and UX40) that are basically sitting in a box but the screens work. I have to post some pictures of it so you can see.

It certainly sounds like a loose connection somewhere. Try taking the back case off and checking the ribbon cable to the screen is firmly attached and not damaged.

Watch the speaker wire as you take the case off though!
