I recently got a used palm treo 700p as a hand me down. I already own a palm TX which I am very happy with outside of it not supporting SDHC which I can get the treo to do. Since the treo combines my phone and pda into one I see no point in using the TX. So I activated the 700p with my verizon account and used it for a few days. But I have to say I seriously missed the graffiti and the WiFi and especially the big humongous screen of the TX relative to the treo's meager screen. I'll have to sell one of this device but I can't seem to make up my mind which device is better. Any suggestions on both device's cons and pros would be appreciate it.
Wow, that's a though one!
I would miss the wifi and big screen on the 700P if I had to swap it for my Tx, but the keyboard is a plus.
The wifi SD-card doesn't work with the 700P as far as I know, but if you have a good data plan with your carrier it might be almost the same. Although browsing your home network, which I do quite often, is not as easy I guess... I still like to have a seperate small phone that's easy to put in my pocket when I'm going out or go skiing and don't really need my Palm or risk losing or damaging it.
It depends a bit what you use the device for. If you want to be up to date with your email all the time, the 700P is better, for watching videos the Tx is better.

Yeah... this is totaly a personal usage decision. The way I use my pda, I would totally miss my big beautiful screen. I read a lot of books & edit/read documents & play games all of which really benefit from the large screen. However, I hardly ever use my cell phone so I don't think I'd be willing to sacrifice screen realestate for a phone. I'm not sure about how the phone/data plan thing works for wifi replacement, but I like the idea that I don't have to pay any extra to surf with my TX - that's probably the 2nd most frequent thing I do.

Well the initial attraction of the treo was the fact that I only needed to carry one device especially with the SDHC card support it would replace my mp3 player and function as a media player not to mention a gps device. But the treo's small screen is really a deal breaker and the small key board is practically useless. I think I will sell the treo...... I miss my TX

does treo have WiFi?
also if your cell is not CDMA, you can hook up the tx to it and go data plan and surf the net
or wifi hotspot and go from there

No the treo 700p does not have WiFi and does not support WiFi SD card. And yes it is CDMA.
I got a 680. I transferred all my TX's info over to it by giving it the TX's Desktop name and then renamed my TX for the Desktop. and I copied over some of my TX's SD card stuff (mostly video and music) to one for the 680.
I'm now using the 680 (GSM, by the way) as my 'daily' PDA, but have kept my TX to use as my 'entertainment' device (taking advantage of the larger screen, wifi and more onboard memory) as well as a source of programs for the 680 that Palm has thoughtlessly dropped from the Treo - Notes, Expense, Favorites....
