View Full Version : New CF card, problems with MP3

So, I know it's an old issue, but I just got a 512Mb SanDisk CF Type II Card and after checking at this forum that people were using Type II cards in NX70v I decided to install.

I had a 256Mb Kingston without issues. I copied every file to the new card and the Clie detected OK. However I noticed that MP3 files began to play 2 secs and then they skipped onto the next. I did a search and it seams to be related to MSPRO update (which I haven't done yet, although I have the CF version drivers).

I just would like a few confirmations:

1. Does it has to do with the SanDisk card being type II? Or just SanDisk mark.
2. The only way around is to install MSPRO update from SONY? (I don't have a MStick Pro, so there's no need for me to use MSPRO)
3. Considering that I have the CF versions installed, do I have to uninstall everything, so MSPRO must be first installed, or can I just install MSPRO update normally with CF versions in use. And can I make a copy from MStick or is it necessary to do a Hotsync?
4. At the end how much RAM do the files occupy?

Thanks for your concern...

Ok. Just a quick question: can I copy/paste from MS to RAM? or must I do a hotsync?

Thanks

Hi RuiDuarte

Well i don't think that only SanDisk uses CF Card Type II i use my own a 1 GB CF Card and it works perfect. There is no Need for you to install the MSPro Update cause it is only for Memorysticks which you do not use.....
If you use both CF Card and MS Stick you can copy directly from one Card to the other for example using WiFile

I was under the impression that you did need the mspro update to use larger cf cards as well. You don't need to uninstall anything prior to installing it. (I would backup before doing it though, better safe than sorry.) Is the 512mb card a disk drive or made out of flash. I had a similar problem with skipping when using a 1gb disk drive type card, and it was caused by bad sectors. That problem went away when I checked the drive for bad sectors and had it not use them. YMMV.

Thanks guys. I'm pretty sure the reason is for being a SanDisk. A few threads I read were related to SanDisk cards. Anyway I installed teh MS Pro update and it worked. I have now - 200Kb but that's OK. MP3 play alright as movies too. I don't quite know if you need the update only for larger cards, or Type II cards, or only for certain brands of cards, like the SanDisk.

Anyway, thanks for your time.

Ah yes... I just copied from MS to RAM and reset. All files were dully updated.
