Is it possible for the password on the PDA to get corrupted? I don't remember changing it, the hint is the same as for my old password, but even in Palm Desktop it won't accept my old password.
Either I stroked out, my cat walked on the keyboard, somebody clever has played a cruel prank, or the password has been corrupted.
the latter is the most likely to me, but has anyone ever heard of this before?
I know Palm has a procedure for this(Solution ID: 2795), has anyone tried it?

If you still have access to the Palm you can try my tool "Password Cracker" which simply removes the password. Then you'll have access to the records etc. again. You can get it here (http://www.palm-archer.de.vu) (in download section) :)

doh! I had used the phone keyboard in the security app instead of the keyboard in the graffiti space, I assumed the letters under the numbers would transpose, like they do on a REAL cellphone. perhaps they updated that for Treo phone users. any way I figured it out.

Help
I have my password. Yesterday I dropped my n610c and the screen is cracked in 3 places. I can not enter my password. Stupid me never hot synced. I don't care to fix the sony clie, but want to somehow enter the password and hotsync to retreive my phone numbers and to do list. How do I enter the password without using the screen? How do I get rid of the password? I know my password, but the clie won't let me enter it. I tried a soft reset, it states system lockout and asks for my password.
Help
The only thing I can think of is loading the password cracker software on a memory card (rename it start.prc and stick it in the appropriate location on the card), and then perform a warm reset with the card out. Insert the card, and see if this does the trick.

If your device is locked, you are probably out of luck. The only remaining points of possible attack that I know of are:
If you have a older device: I recall reading a security advisory article about Palm OS devices, that it was possible to perform a debugging-reset on a locked device. Once in debug-reset mode one could use a debugging console application on the desktop (a developers' tool) and examine memory, including pulling the password out of memory. The password may be hashed, but easy enough to reverse. However, I am pretty sure this issue was fixed in Palm OS 4.0 and above (not positive though).
If you do not have a broken screen or if you have a device with a keyboard: The password is stored somewhere on the desktop, it should be possible to use techniques similar to the password hacking programs above, but pulling the password from a data file somewhere off the desktop.
Alas I do not know any details beyond these.
