None that are freeware and worth any serious use that I know of, and I've looked, a lot. Someone please prove me wrong.

Best thing I can say, to do what you want, is to use NoviiRemote (http://www.novii.tv/). I know, I know, it's payware, but it's darn good, and in my opinion really the only app that is any good for IR control.

Maybe a cool developer on this forum who has a need for a new app idea (http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?t=119040&highlight=app+idea), might be able create this often asked for, yet distinctly missing app.

Off topic but on remotes:
A lot of folks are trying to hide their entertainment devices behind the wall etc. Thus this clean look has run into the problem of trying to use an ir remote control. They do have a ir signal repeater for that clean look.

Another story using a remote:
Man says he killed grandmother in rage over TV Fri 19 Jan, 2007 17:34:30 GMT MOSCOW (Reuters Life!) - A Russian confessed to police he killed his grandmother because they could not agree on what program to watch on television, prosecutors said on Friday. Arguments over who controls the television remote are familiar to most families. The suspect, from Russia's Karelia region near Finland, took things to extremes by stabbing and bludgeoning to death his 81-year-old grandmother. "When he started to testify to police, he said he killed her because they could not agree on what TV program they wanted to watch," said Tatyana Kordyukova, a spokeswoman for the Karelia prosecutor's office. She said the man was drunk at the time. "He could not remember exactly what it was he wanted to watch." Police were called to the family's apartment and found the woman's body. Her grandson had fled but he was caught later and is now in prison awaiting trial. MORE ODDLY ENOUGH Home | Oddly Enough | Sports | Entertainment | Business | Currency Copyright © 2005 Reuters Limited
