Hey guys,

I was looking into getting some compact, lightweight hearing protection that goes over your ears. Does anyone use any at work that they might recommend. I want to use it so that while I'm reading I cannot hear any whispering or noise whatsoever. My roommate blasts his headphones and makes noises which makes it hard to concentrate. I am looking to spend around $20. If your suggestion cost more, still suggest it. I am open to anything right now.

Thanks,

JAmerican

I was told by a colleague who takes the plane frequently to travel intercontintal, that the classic studio headphone style (or alike) does wonders. I am not sure about the correct name, but I am sure you get what I mean.
Those big things which cover your ears completely and with the support over your head so it makes you almost look like an astronaut ;)

Another option is simple ear plugs (the foam made stuff, I believe the army also uses them when doing shooting drill).

Last option is to make arrangements with your room mate to turn down the volume a bit while you are reading. A 'no' you already have, a 'yes' might be possible.

Maybe you should play some of Alan's podcasts with the volume cranked all the way up out of your speakers just to proof to him how annoying it can be ;)

(and now I have to run away from here as fast as I can ...)
