According to the most recent scientific studies, radio frequency radiation (RFR) emitted by Wi-Fi devices do not pose a health risk to people. [details (http://www.1src.com/?m=show&id=1798)]

anyone who doubted this would be the result of the study, raise your hands :)

I wonder if a tin hat on your wifi device could stop it from receiving or sending a signal? Or you can test your microwave for leakage by putting your wifi device in the microwave and see if it can't receive any signals...

BTW cell phones used to be a lot stronger and it is rumored that OJ's lawyer Johnny Cocrane's brain tumor was from early cell phone usage....

Wifi enabled universities would miss wifi connection if too much wifi hysteria occurs....

Thank god, finally... crazy "WiFi kills" theories can be put to rest ;)

Next the dangers of cradleless, baseless battery chargers coming soon as the next gadget. How in the heck can you charge a battery without a connection, yet not pose a danger?

Also I wonder if having the palm screen close to your face(less than 10 inches) either ruins your eyes or makes you more nearsighted? Inquiring Palm users need to know....

I for one was not surprised at the results; it's not ionizing radiation, and the power levels of the RF are way, way, waaaaay too low to have any thermal effect on the human body.

Um, I must say first that I love these studys! But btw, could wifi router affect negative someway to original tv (not plasma or tft)? Or perhaps to ears because routes power is marked as Dbs which is used in sound powers?

Anyway about this study. I don't also believe or think that wifi routers could somekind of serious healt risk if even cellphone can't if it is near to ear. I have still my doubts that how trustfully these are? And how they test these?

What is the impact of RF interference?

As a basis for understanding the impact of RF interference in wireless LANs, let's quickly review how 802.11 stations (radio cards and access points) access the medium: Each 802.11 station only transmits packets when there is no other station transmitting. If another station happens to be sending a packet, the other stations will wait until the medium is free. The actual protocol is somewhat more complex, but this gives you enough of the basic concepts.

RF interference involves the presence of unwanted, interfering RF signals that disrupt normal system operations. Because of the 802.11 medium access protocol, an interfering RF signal of sufficient amplitude and frequency can appear as a bogus 802.11 station transmitting a packet. This causes legitimate 802.11 stations to wait for indefinite periods of time until the interfering signal goes away.

A decibel is just a unit of measure. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decibel

I am surprised that the article does not have the decibel rating of a gnat passing gas (I think that it is .1dB or in that zone).

Recently they announced a huge (200k people) study to deternine if cell phones cause brain cancer:

Maybe this will encourage more bluetooth headphone use?

interesting study, ced !

i've always been curious of this.. especially when i have wifi enabled while using my tx.

on mine, it does generate some heat after a 30 minutes.. but nothing that would fry my hand. but my sister's sdio wifi card does generate quite a bit of heat.. and i tel her to never turn it on cause it'll burn our house down.

although, what i'm most worried of is that for the past few months now... i've been streaming podcasts / shoutcasts over wifi with my tx while sleeping. THANKS A LOT KINOMA 4ex. i place it right on top of my pillow, face down with speakers exposed, and connected to the ac.

YES, that is a stupid thing to do isn't it ? i have to break this habit soon but i'm still thinking of a better alternative. i blame the palm 3rd party aftermarket accessory makers.. we want those slick ipod charging cradles w/ audio outputs as well. well again i don't necessarily have to purchase something.

any recommendations out there.. while im still alive ?

The heat is from the battery, heating up as it is required to produce more juice for the wifi card, which in turn heats up the chassis and any inserted card...
