I'm new to this forum just as much as I'm new to PDAs. I've got my first PDA, Palm TX, not too long ago, and I was enjoying it until last night. I had it to syncronize to install new apps and documents, and it seemed to froze on me while syncronizing documents. After several minutes, I've made a very bad move by disconnecting it from my PC and hitting the reset button. After that, it would power up but few seconds after it goes to the "palm powered" screen, it suddenly blacks out and reboots. I'm really concerned about this and I do not want to loose my data by hard reseting it. The unit keeps reseting itself until its battery is drained. Did anyone have the same problem? Please help me! Is there anything I could do or anyone that knows what to do to bring my TX back to life? I'm really down rightnow. Thank you for any response.

First thing to try, a 'Firm-Reset'. A Firm-Reset is performed by performing a normal Soft-Reset while holding the 'Up' navigation button. Continue holding the 'Up' until the second splash screen appears (the Palm Powered screen).
Note: Firm-Reset-Mode on a Palm OS device, is logically equivalent to Safe-Mode on Windows; many OS services and extensions have been disabled. This mode allows you to get the system up far enough that one can fix the problem and then try again.
Therefore, if the Firm-Reset gets you up, you now need to figure out what the problem is and fix it. The most likely candidate would be the program(s) that you just installed. Try deleting them, and then perform a soft-reset.

Wow. Thank you so much for the info. I've managed to get into the preferences menu, however, when I clicked on Applications from home menu, the TX would crash, so what I did was: I've added the Crash Pro and Reset Doctor program (trial version) that I have downloaded that night and launched them. I've turned it on and performed soft reset. I was very relieved that my TX is back and running. I'm not sure which one, but one of the programs saved me from performing a hard reset on the unit. Thank you so much for ur input and I hope that this thread will help other users in the future. God Bless!

Some additional notes for others who may have gotten to this point.
I've managed to get into the preferences menu, however, when I clicked on Applications from home menu, the TX would crashThat is usually an indication that the corrupt application's icon is corrupt. When the Application launcher opened it tried to display the icon from the corrupt application and then crashed itself. Other possible ways around this:
Since you are already in Preferences, change one of the hard buttons to a program that allows you to delete applications; example FileZ. One could then launch that program, and delete the offending application.
If needed, eject the current SD card. Insert an SD card which has an application on it (if need to make one put a palm PRC program file into \Palm\Launcher on an SD) but does not have a \DCIM directory on it (so that the Camera Companion will not launch instead). This may be the same card just ejected. This will cause the application launcher to start, but be displaying the "category" of the SD card. Since the device is not displaying the "corrupt" application, it does not crash. You can now do the menu, 'App', 'Delete'.
God Bless!Thanks.
