I have never ever hotsynced any of my TJ devices. My TJ-37 was able to Data Import to the memorystick for a short while and has been useless for my xp and win2000 til today.(For over a year no hotsyncing for the tj-37)
What is the difference today? Well I broke down and bought a refurbished TJ-25 and thought now that I have the instructions and the CD if I can hotsync one device I could hotsync the other device. Wrong.
So I proceeded to try to remove the Desktop and retry to start from new. I have sony's usb switch still on but no hotsync. But I just finished hotsyncing my m50x device(lost all the desktop data but I will override using handheld overrides the desktop later) Most likely I will be able to hotsync the T/e2, but for $125 to buy a refurbished Tj25 is ok anyway since I still have a card reader and now at least Data Import now works on both of the TJ just not hotsync

Which version of Palm Desktop are you using? Maybe Sony's version is better in your condition?
For Data Import, check out this software:

Well I changed in the program files PalmOne file into PalmTwo and now I hear the hotsync begin. It tries hard to identify the old TJ-37 but won't recognize it. Now I am going to try the refurbished one. Not a peep from the remanufactured tj-25.
I get one message for the Tj37 syncronizing htdata824.pdb so I move that file to the memory stick...

Maybe the remanufactured tj-25 can't hotsync. I have hard reset it and haven't put any programs in it so it should sync like the tj-37(which I have finally hotsynced after a year of putting memos and everything.
The tj-25 is a pathetic device, no camera, no radio but views pictures very well and can use memory sticks. Maybe it will be good at playing Warfare Incorporated?

So neither device syncs? Traditionally, syncing 2 Clies has always caused difficulty. Maybe try changing the settings on the hotsync button in the desktop. Maybe the com ports aren't right. Generally speaking, though, it will probably be better to sync them to different computers if that is a possiblity.

Data Import function is a good tool to diagnois a bad connection. Testing it on my Tj-37 and TJ-25/U I found that the removable dongle (which connects the Usb and power supply cord) to be defective. Now that I have two dongles, I can only hotsync with one of them but can use both to charge up the different TJs at the same time.
Since I have two computers I will try your suggestion (but may have to backup the data in that computer) I guess my $125 solution to hotsync my T-37 was worth it, sometimes the best tool to solve a problem is having two similar devices available....

Traditionally, syncing 2 Clies has always caused difficulty.
For the last year or so, I have sync'ed two TH55/E1's, four SJ33's, two TG50's, a TJ27, a TJ37, an NX73V, an NX80V, two SJ20's, and several SJ22 and -30's on three separate cradles connected to my home PC running Win 2000.
The only CLIE I haven't been able to sync has been the NZ90 that was just never found. And with me having way too much data to risk a reinstall of the desktop software, I never really pushed the NZ90 hotsync. . .and if I move the cradles to a USB port where they've never synced before, it tries to locate a USBD file to complete the install.
So you should be able to hot sync the '25 and '37 together no problem.

Or I am considering that the reason it is a remanufactured model is because it won't hotsync. Somehow the folder in the program files didn't rename as PalmOne folder and so all the data I accumulated went poof on my windows 2000 computer. I also for a while was using briefly a s-360 Sony and so now my documents to go programs are interfering with the documents to go installed by the palm e2....
Anyway most techs like the clean slate method erase everything and start from scratch...unless you are a good detective...

Now I am a happy camper. I did a hard reset and the tj25 finally hotsynced. Sure I got anxious but I installed only file z after the hard reset and sure enough the old advise if you can't hotsync then do a hard reset.
What made me do a hard reset? The tj-25 wasn't responding to file z looking into the files of the handheld. Even clie files didnt want to look at itself and was needing resetting constantly. I am so confident now maybe I might try converting a life drive into a non-mini drive....well not that confident.

E2 can wifi if you buy a wifi card. However the TJ-37 can wifi by itself. Documents to go is still a challenge to me, but since I don't make many documents it is not a loss to me one way or another. I still prefer the clie viewer to the media picture scans of e2. My e2 plays songs a lot easier than the avi/sonic/ palm tg50 (though I haven't tried the static patch yet)
I guess if you avoid mixing OS5 with OS4 or lower devices you save yourself a lot of grief from program non-compatible set ups. Soon there might be another OS coming? Or more patches to fix vista problems?
What really irks me is that Microsoft is closing updates availability because your xp is not a geniuine program. If Video was easier to use maybe I might switch to vista...

Obviously you need a memory stick wifi for the tj25 and an official palm wi-fi sd card for the e2. Then the next problem is getting a browser. Net front can be used on the TJ-37 but I don't know if you can for the tj-25. My e2 has a browser probably in conjunction with blue tooth which I haven't tried (but the previous owner did) Here's one link to hagiwara's wifi card:
