View Full Version : DataMgr error with every HotSync attempt

I have been merrily hotsyncing my TH-55 without any problem until this week. Now, everytime I try to hotsync, I get a message on my Clie that says "DataMgr.c Line:9529 Index out of range." The hotsync immediately fails. A reset gets my Clie going again but every attempt to hotsync brings up the same error message. I've looked around in the forums and Sony support for a clue as to what this is all about but the answers are few and enigmatic. Could someone point me in the right direction to correct this error?
Thanks so much.

Hello KittyO, welcome to 1src :D:D:D
Standard response from my side when I see this error:
1. Get dbscan from pimlicosoftware (http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/dbscan.zip)
2. Launch it, choose Neither (not Current)
3. From the menu, select "Remove All Deleted Records"
4. Remove deleted records for both Palmone and Palmsource dbs.
5. If any records were removed, change the action of the corresponding PIM
conduit(s) to "Handheld overwrites desktop".
Let us know if this helps ;)

Dear H,
I downloaded the file and took a look. dbScan is a .prc file. Therefore it must first be installed on my Clie before it can do anything. My problem is that I cannot initiate a hotsync without receiving the error message as I press the hotsync button. So, I cannot install dbScan. I need to first resolve the error message issue before I can hotsync.

You can install to Memory card/stick, then run from there or move to main memory.
Another way to get dbscan onto your TH is to beam the application from another Palm OS device. Which means dbscan needs to be installed to that device first.

You could also try Data Import, then copy the .prc from your PC to your Memory Stick. Later you can use Clié files to move it to RAM.

Thanks for the suggestions on moving files. Wish I still had my old Sony laptop with memory stick slot. But, I do have Palm enabled friends who could help.
Thanks.

Hi, it took a while to find a memory stick reader/writer so that I could get dbscan.prc from my computer to my TH-55. But, now that it is there and I ran it, it found no errors or deleted records. I am still unable to get a hotsync going without the error message "DataMgr.c, Line:9529 Index out of range." Is there another suggestion on trouble shooting this error?
Thanks so much

I had a similar error related to MobileMgr. A reference in the Hotsynch Log pointed me toward that as the offending application. I had several backups so I uninstalled MobileMgr and any related files, restored from backup, and all was back to normal.

Just thought I would update. The only solution was a hard reset and restore. Thanks to those who offered suggestions.
