Before I attempt to migrate the PIM data on my SJ33 to my TH55 for which i intend to use the same username, I"d like confirmation that my approach will work.

1. Named the Backup folder under the SJ33 username "oldbackup" and placed it on my computer Desktop
2. Exported my Address Book, DateBook, and Memo Pad [nothing in my ToDo] also to my computer's desktop
3. Will uninstall the version of the Palm Desktop for Clie that I used for the SJ33.
4. Then I'll install the version of the Palm Desktop that comes on the TH55 cd.
5. Import the Address Book, DateBook, and Memo Pad
6. Hotsync the TH55

Am I missing anything?

The only comment I have is that you shouldn't have to uninstall the original Palm Desktop software. Just install the TH-55's palm desktop software over it. In Alan Grassia's podcast (#109) he explains it.

Best of Luck

I tried that, but was given the error message that I had to uninstall the previous version through Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs. It wouldn't let me ignore that instruction....

Reporting back:
I exported files to my desktop as noted above, uninstalled Palm Desktop, re-installed from my TH55 cd, and all the data was automatically migrated in without my having to import and even though I had renamed my backup.

Once I hot-synced, I checked to be sure that none of the software/files I had loaded separately on my SJ33 had been imported - none had.

So this was a relatively painless migration - all the pain was in the anticipation. Now I have no excuses not to figure out what all the new bells and whistles are....

Yaay! :D

(Oh, and get CoreCodec's TCPMP audio/video player (http://picard.exceed.hu/tcpmp/test/) and Mobile-stream's Landscape program (http://www.mobile-stream.com/landscape_info.html). They rule. :D)
