Yes, I'm a newbie to the forum, and a bit of one to Palm as well.

I need to uninstall hacks that I used on my IIIxe which migrated over to my T|X. I know there was a prompt when I first synced my T|X and like a fool I told it to install the hacks.

That has since caused a number of stability issues. I don't really need the hacks anymore and from what I've read OS5 doesn't support them anyway.

I've tried doing the hard reset, and the ZeroOut reset. However my problems return when I sync after the reset. When I sync after the reset it immediately starts to install everything, so I'm not prompted about the hacks. I looked at the Delete App menu and found there are a number of files that I'm sure if they're supposed to be there or not.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks for helping a newbie out.

Do a "warm reset", which you press the reset button, and then immediately press the up part of the 5-way-nav, and release when you get to the greyscale "Palm" logo. This will hopefully prevent the hacks from loading and causing stability issues. Then, go to the hack manager (X-Master, YAHM, etc), and delete all of what is listed in there, and then delete the hack manager itself. Finally, soft reset (press the reset button and do nothing until fully restarted), and you should be on your way!

I know you could just disable all of the hacks and delete them without warm resetting, but it is always good to be on the side of caution!

Before you where only reinstalling the apps via hotsync. The idea is to remove the programs from your installation process. The idea mentioned should work fine

The manual on the CD that came with your TX has good instructions for upgrading from another model. There is also excellent advice here (http://forum.brighthand.com/showthread.php?t=220374). You should follow those instructions carefully.

If you just hotsync again, you reload everything, including the applications you want to be rid of. The best part of the advice to follow is to rename your Palm directory that is similar to your user name and reload your desired applications from scratch. Doing a hard reset now and following those directions will save you future grief.

I'd like to thank everyone for their input. I tried each post in succession until I achieved the desired results. In the end it was the last post with the link to Brighthand and removing the backup folder that got me to a stable place. I'm going to have to spend some time reinstalling my apps, but since they were all designed for OS5 I think I'll be in the clear. And incase you were wondering, yes I'll install them one at a time to make sure I stay stable.

Thanks again everyone. Now if only I can get this to connect via bluetooth to a CDMA Motorola phone.
