The new update for Image Converter 2 allows you to convert movies to MPEG 4 w/o splitting after 2 hours. :)

Roughly how different is it from image converter 1.0 or 1.5? On what devices have you used it on? So far I am just begining to use image converter from clie flics on my tj-37 and using TCPM to play it on my device.

Here is the image converter thread:

I love the edit function, it gets rid of unnescessary information.

I've used IC 2 for a while and it does straight MPEG 4. I got it on this forum and it came with some of my newer devices. Now I have Sony's MicroPC the UX180 it the update to IC2 shows as a new download for drivers. I haven't tried the update, I just thought that this forum would be interested. I don't know if IC 1.0 and 1.5 allows you to que videos, but IC 2 does. If I want to convert recorded TV files, I simply click and it will pull up every show of the format I'm looking for. I select all, click convert, and go to bed or work and come back to 15+ converted videos. I like the convenience.

Hmm 15+ converted videos is about almost 8 hours of video viewing. Do you store it on a supplemental hard drive or erase it after finishing?
How good is the viewing cueing? Can you edit out commercials? Or just all the videos are all together as a category, playlist or just lined up for viewing pleasure?
My neighbor records off of satelite signal and puts it in a dvd. Similar to your method?

I usually have recorded TV shows. I have a Media Center PC. Additionally, I have a T drive added just to place my recorded files. I don't do much in the way of converting regular DVDs, because they keep changing the copy right specs and I get too busy. If you have good stuff that works, PM me. My desktop w/o the T drive is 200GB. My T drive is 250GB. I also have external drives that I drag converted files to for later retrieval. I have two 400GB and one 250GB external. My second desktop is 500GB, but I don't use it for media or storage.

Sony's desktop has Click to DVD which allows you to edit out commercials, but that adds hours and hours of time. I prefer to fast forward through the commercials and save my time. The viewing looks great of TV, but it depends upon you IC2 settings. I also have a Cybershot which I connect to TVs to view MPEG4 on regular TVs. It's like carrying a portDVD player. I'm slightly TECH overloaded. I also have two laptops (UX180, T250), an iPOD, and UX50, VZ90. I can't seem to stop myself. And now the new UX is coming. If it has better battery life, I'm sold.

Wow you are a Media Center pioneer.
1)You think this year's multimedia push is better?
2)You haven't really scratched the surface yet?
3)You hoping for Sony to come up with their version of multi-Media center?

As far as I know, the Media Center TV PCs are Multi-media centers. I'm on my third one, so I guess I'm sold on the concept. I like hearing about a show and just typing it in w/o having to know what channel it comes on or what time it comes on. I don't use my devices to their full potential, but I did unbelievable things with my Clie's until Sony stopped making them. I'm not satisfied with the other products out their so I keep my old pdas. I'll be looking at a Media extender to view the recorded files on my PC from any TV in the house. But I haven't found one that will allow me to view all of my recorded files yet. I guess you could say I'm at #2 I haven't scratched the surface yet. In case your wondering, what I like best about the Media Center TV PCs is that you don't have to pay a montlhly fee like people do for Tivo. Of course people with Tivo and other devices can record multiple shows, but my recording device also helps me convert to formats convenient for my portable devices.

Part of me is in favor for a pay for TIVO function and another part of me is for the free market. It is a lot of work to download, but if it is a very good show, it needs to be saved.
In some ways powerpoint parallels the functions that we desire. If MP3 wasn't patented we would have more narations and story telling downloads. Straight to MP3 is not free but I think Apple does the best job (that's why we here at 1src can listen to Podcasts in Mp3)
Unfortunately people may not be able to multitask by trying to listen to a podcast and doing something else (unless it is a mindless job like folding clothes) But the palm /pdas do a good service in trying to fill our spare time.

I already pay for cable, I'm not willing to also buy a device, TIVO, and pay another monthly subscription. I get enough of that from my cell phone company. On my Media Center, I can record a TV series for my video library and go back at a later date to convert the file into a smaller format. Today, I will be hooking up some of my other devices, Locationfree TV, so that I can view live TV shows from my laptops when I'm out of the house. This will be good for when I get stuck someplace and haven't moved shows or other entertainment to my portable devices. It's like sling box and they advertise catching that great game when you're out of the house, but I don't think I'll be using it for that.
If I recall...IE 2 doesnt work on my NX80V. correct? So far I use 1.5 with not much problems.

For the UX50 we can add update or add AvxAnalyzer, AvxMP4Parser, and AvxMPEG4Decoder so that it can read MP4s, I think it also works for the NX80, but I'm not sure.
