I've been a Clie user since the N760 but I think I'm going to jump ship :-(

The Tungsten C has everything I've dreamed of (built-in Wi-Fi, 64M, non-clamshell design, smaller form factor then my NX60) except no keyboard/Virtual Grifitti.

What are the chances of Sony introducing a T-something series w/ no stinkin' keyboard & with built-in Wi-Fi soon?

With $ony, it's hard to tell. It COULD be tomorrow . . . lol!

I've read the Tungsten C is VERY nice, if you can stand being without VG (I couldn't), go for it & be happy! :D

No VG would be a sacrifice :-(

Maybe I'll wait a day or so lol

The Palm T|C is very intriguing. It doesn't have a Sony type VG but it does support Graffiti 2 for hand writing recognition. But the deciding factor for me not to consider getting this PDA is the fact that the audio is in mono. I don't play MP3s that often but I do consider stereo a must feature for my PDA.

What is the difference between Graffiti and Graffiti 2?

G2 has characters which consist of multiple strokes, like a T not being a rotated L anymore, but really two strokes: | - . I personally hate it, since it slows down writing tremendously. Thanx Xerox. I know a company from which we won't get a second copier.

Mono? Seriously? Good grief, we're backsliding into the primordial soup.

Good grief, I've been hogsquaggled (or whatever the guy in the muppet show tries to say). Out of the speaker of course, but I'm pretty sure it's stereo when using headphones.

Unfortunately, the headphone jack is MONO.

Unbelievable, isn't it?

also no builit in camera, like in your NR/NX/NZ. In addition to mono sound, the built in camera is also something I couldn't live without. Oh also I forgot to mention that I've gotten really spoiled with the 320x480 screen resolution... don't think i could ever live without that.

Blame Xerox for Palm stealing their patent? A little backwards. Maybe we should blame Palm for stealing instead of buying the rights to use it.

Ok, I get the "marketing towards business people" idea... but... if you're going to put MP3 capability anyway (with the presumption of non-business use or users) how the heck much difference can it be to put a stereo jack in?

I'm going to assue you haven't actually read the patent.

That certainly is brilliant, probably would have cost another half cent!

I jumped ship from my NR70 to the Palm Tungsten T and lived to regret every day of it. I'm gladly back with a NX60 and I will never leave Sony again. Palm is fine for business, but they leave out too many of the things I liked in the Sony Clies.

The Tungsten T had poor quality MP3, no polyphonic alarms, small screen, no remote control, and poor video options.

The Zire 71 fixed the MP3 problem, but thats about it. No way I would trade my NX60 for anything else until Sony comes out with a new handheld.

I think that is the real difference. For people who find no need for the "entertainment" factor and only use it for life/business/professional productivity the form factor of the Palm and the increased memory is certainly appealing.

I played with the new $299 Zire's built-in camera.

It is a VERY COOL toy !!!

Takes half-decent photos too, although max res is 640 x 480. But considering that it is built into a PDA ... that isn't half bad. At least you will have a camera always with you.

The Zire slides open (the front face slides up and the back slides down, and there is a camera inside.

Very clever hiding place !!

And the camera button is on the inside of the back, so it too is hidden until the PDA is opened into "camera mode".

I also liked the mini-joystick on the Zire. It is easier to use than the flat-arrow rocker button on my Clie.

Although it will be a little awkward trying to store it in a flat case.

If only the Zire were a better color than a metallic blue ?

How about all silver ?

:D :D :D
