I upgraded my phone to a treo 650 just prior to Christmas, and have rarely used my T|X since. In briefly comparing the two devices performance, with the exception of the occasional reset of the 650, it seems superior - it definitely funs faster than my T|X, and I am amazed at the clarity and brightness of the screen. A particularly annoying problem with the T|X was that it seemed erratic in processor speed, or at least that is my diagnosis. I have used some different metronome apps on different devices over the years with excellent results; however, on the T|X these applications run at noticeably varying speeds, to the point of being unusable.

If it had WiFi, then I'd switch, but I use the WiFi on my TX alot, and bluetooth is just too slow.

I watch movies on my T|X; I can't imagine watching them on any screen smaller than the T|X's 320x480 version and enjoying it.

I went through a similar thing except I got a Treo 680. I gave me what my 650 didn't (memory and a better carrier). Then I realized it also made my Tx obsolete as well. WiFi is ok as long as you're near a hot-spot, otherwise the Tx was a bit of a pain especially regarding Blazer and what still seams like a defective operating system (the way it handles memory). The 650 and 680 both seem more stable than the Tx. My 680 has quickly become the only device I use.

...and to those of you using both the T|X and Treo650, do you concur regarding the device speeds, the treo being faster, or do I have a T|X with a questionable processor?

And here I am, contemplating consolidating my TX usefulness with a replacement for my Motorola phone...

Looking at the Treo 680 (battery issues and all - recalling the angst with the early 650s):

Good: Stick with an OS I am familiar with, native support with my Mac, lots of excellent freeware.
Bad: Sticking with an OS (and Company Support) I am familiar with, no wifi (thank you Palm for building for the wireless companies, not the end user), a dinky screen - however bright - and Palm ain't no cellphone manufacturer.

- and an, ahem, grey-market (at least in Canada) Nokia E61:

Good: Built by a cellphone manufacturer, a solid OS, wifi included, large screen, lots of excellent freeware.
Bad: No full native support for Mac (though basic sync'ing possible), weird connection cable (what, did they learn this from Palm?) that also requires a Nokia-specific headset.

Thoughts?
