View Full Version : Power Trouble With Camera

My NZ90 can be fully charged, and, when I turn on the camera to take a movie, I get a message that the function has to be disabled because power is low (the power meter looks drained too.)
It happens after I take two pictures with flash also.
Strange, though, when I open another application or restart, the power meter reads high again.
Can someone help?

Suggest you disable the flash before running the camera applications.
Run the camera applications, change the flash to disable, save the settings so that the next time you launch the camera, it'll start without flash option. Turn on the flash when needed.
I also noticed that if you drain and re-charge your NZ90 .... the battery seems more stable when launching the camera software. I can even get flash enabled with 75% now. I'm on 9 re-charge cycle.
Good luck.

9 cycles on his battery. Flash works at 75% level.
Trust me , the batteries get better with age/cycles. My second one is getting progressively better. It had noticeably less depth than the original.
The updates seem to help. Try em!

It seems that there is realy something strange. When I did the test with the new camera driver the battery power was down to 35% (after 45 Flashpics) after about 5 minutes I changed over to the standard display and it shows 72% battery power. Going back to the camera it goes down to 35% again no flash working anymore. The battery power measurement depends obviosly on the device witch is connected. Not very accurat ?

I just got off the phone with Sony technical support. They claim that all I should get is 5 pictures with flash.
There are some post here that make me wonder.
Would someone who has taken significantly more flash pictures please post here?
The person at Sony Tech Support is smoking something bad, ought to get a new dealer.
I photographed 75 images with flash the other night after installing the ClieCam 1.1 update which the "Maybe a patch for Clié Camera Library" tread is linking to. it It changed the personality of my camera entirely.

same for me, i just come back from a birthday party: It was at 100%, I took 20 pics with flash (battery at 50%), I shut it down for 20 minutes and the battery came back to 88%, I took 15 pics, then shut it down for 20 minutes etc...
At all, I took over 60 pictures and now it's at 71%
now after 5 shots with flash, it says battery to low for flash but if i wait 10 minutes i'll be able to use it again, I think I can to to 80-90 pic with flash in one day :) (7 cycles)

You just answered your question yourself. The old version is in ROM. You can NOT delete anything from ROM (unless Sony will cooperate with Brayder :D for JackSprat development). So live with it.

Here's what I mean.
First you launch your camera apps
Then you configure the camera to disable the flash
Then run the configuration and save the setting for flash
What this does is that the next time you launch the camera apps the next time, the flash is disabled, thus you should be able to toggle the flash on when needed.
Or to keep it simple, download the lastest 1.1 patch which does much more. People been able to take 70+ pictures with flash using the latest patch 1.1.
Good luck

When you launch the camera apps, take a look at the right next to the Capture button ---> looks like a lightning. Tap it twice and look at the top left hand corner. You should see a lightning with a no-entry sign.
Then tap the spanner sign, right below the button on the left.
You'll get the line item screen, scroll until you see the SaveSetting option and click it.
Check the Flash Mode and click OK.
The next time you launch the camera option, the flash is automatically disabled.
Have not figured out to do screen capture on the Clie to show you the screen yet and don't have my digital camera here with me to assist me.
Good luck

I too am having the exact same problem with my camera and battery even with the new patch. I think its either a defective battery or defective NZ90. with a full charge I launch the camera app, I can take a few flash pics, the battery drops very low AND NEVER COMES BACK UP. I then get the flash warning. If I exit out to the launcher, the battery will boucne back up to nearly full but when I go back in to the camera, it drops to liek 30% and stays there.
I have the CompUSA warranty plan so can exchange it at any time but waiting to see what's around the corner.
