TG-50 with Tungsten C specs... possible?

Hi all,

Just saw the Tungsten C specs and am really impressed.. Now I wish my new TG-50 has 64Mb memory as well... :(
Do you think that the TG-50 could be upgraded to have 64Mb??

After using my TG50 for about a month, I don't think I want the 320 x 480 screen anymore! I didn't think the keyboard would get to me, but I would much rather have a keyboard than the extra screen real estate now. Instant Messanging as well as Journal entries are so convenient with the keyboard, graffiti input for long notes is just simply tiring. Gimme some more RAM, throw in Wifi, and this would be the perfect CLIE for me!

i'm perfectly happy with TG-50 too... but with 64Mb I'll be happier :).

even if it can be upgraded, it'll probably void the warranty from Sony unless of course Sony does it... but then again, it'll most probably cost me an arm and a leg

As for Wi-Fi, don't really need it... and I think Sony is going to come out with a Wi-Fi memory stick... so I am not too bothered about that... I just need more RAM :)

$ony will never do the upgrade, but they will release a brand new model instead.
I believe sooner or later, somewhere in Asia will be able to upgrade the RAM.

The memory breakthrough (http://www.brighthand.com/article/PalmOS_Devices_with_128MB_of_RAM) made by the Palm SG and PalmSource is available to Sony too so I am sure we'll see future Clies with 64 MB and even 128 MB of memory.

Whether there'll be an update for the TG50 from a third party is doubtful, though. They would have to update the OS and the hardware. It could happen...

Give me the new screen on the TC and Z71 as well. I compared my TG to the TC and to my astonishment the rumors are true: The screen on the new Palms have surpassed Sony's latest efforts. It is BRIGHT, WHITE, with RICH COLORS. It makes my TG screen look like it has a reddish tint to it.

Yeah, I think the screen of Palm is better not only it's brighter and richer in colors. It looks good even if you turn the backlight off. That's the point.

And one very important point I have to add: even if TG50 has a 400MHz processor and 64MB RAM, I'm afraid that the overall performance (i.e. the speed when using common applications) of TG50 will still much poorer than Tungsten C.

This is because we are now using the memory card extensively (e.g. maps, dictionaries, and many e-books), and the slow performance of MS and MS Pro compared with SD will make you angry with Sony.

So if you want to add the specification of Tungsten C please also add one important aspect: use SD card instead of MS/MS Pro.
