I was wondering if it's possible to repartition a LD's hard drive to allocate more than the 64MB of system memory thats there. It's my understanding that palm uses the partitioned HD as ROM. Seems to me that with a 4 GB drive the allocated memory is rather small.

I'm looking for this as well. I believe you'd have to install a new ROM image to the HDD and/or do it during a CF conversion from the sticky above and from help from the hackndev website, but I've not seen any instructions to use during a manual install of the palmOS to change the memory size to 128MB (or 256MB).

whats the point?? Storage ram is on the hd - just run apps from the hd - everything has to load before execution anyway...the only exception would be those apps that need system notifications, but how many of those do you need??

it sounds like all he's trying to do is increase the cache of the hdd by flashing the rom and allocating more space. in theory that would work, kind of what tyler's program does, except making it even larger. I don't think it's possible to do such a thing now but with the right code it may be possible.

The point is that with UDMH you could allocate massive amounts of memory to run games, Like ZQuake. It needs 32MB of memory allocated by UDMH to run according to dmitry. I've got everything I need on my LD and I'm left with 20MB. If you could change the allocation to 128MB I could allocate 32MB or more to run ZQuake
