Can anyone give me advice on using my cell as a modem for my tx for internet connection? I'm able to establish a connection between the phone and my tx, but not able to get on the internet? I've had my tx for a while but just not getting around to learn all cool things I can do. If it helps: I do have a data connection plan on the cell plan and the cell is bluetooth.

Thanks

Yes, this is possible, but what service are you using?

Enable DUN on the Bluetooth settings on your phone.
On the TX, create a new Connection. Name it DUN. Make it connect to Modem, via Bluetooth, Device: (your phone), keep everything else default.
Then, create a new Network Service. Call it DUN as well. Set the username: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1
Set the Connection to DUN, and the Phone # to *99***1#
Good luck!

Verizon cripples their Bluetooth. Check if your phone has an option for DUN

It is possible, but I have never done it. I guess you just switch the Bluetooth option to IR or something, I am not sure. Try a search.

YouŽll need a phone with both IR and modem capabilities. IR is not enough. You will also need to know the service provider phone number for data transfer.

With all that, you create a IR connection in the Preferences Panel under Connection, then a Network account for your provider with the number I mentioned before. Also, some cell providers have a script, which you may need to enter in the Details screen.

I have Cingular but pay for the data service via EDGE. My TX can sign on to the EDGE service directly, w/o dial up. I have however used the above mentioned data to dial up data via bluetooth on my PC when my cable internet dropped out. It seemed fsater than dial up so I think I was getting EDGE speeds, but its not like its UTMS.

As far as IR, thats no problem, you'd just have a connection with IR as opposed to Bluetooth. The Phone connection wizard on your TX ought to handle all the specifics for you. If not, you can manually create am IR connection to your phone (I did that for my wife's m515 and SE T616 till she got a treo) under preferences.

Regards,Okay, thanks for anwser :)... And I though that phone can always act as modem, eer.. :o I might pass this though. However if I run into "things" that I need send email fast then I will setup it. But for now it is just quite expensive send email through phone (I don't have any month data plan), but it is way better to write on the th55 than on my phone so that is why I asked.
