It seems the more I dress up my TX the worse Blazer and Versamail performance becomes. Right now I'm using a MacOSX theme, a mixed set of app icons and a single background image with ZLauncher. Any more and I start running low on resources (dbCache). What do you guys do? I'd like more but resources....

hmmmm, for blazer i dont have a solution :( i can use it only after a soft reset.
for versamail, you should flush the DB and then launch VM, you should be able to run VM without any problems there.
I dont use ZLauncher, but Appshelf does lower my cache a bit. Still is just my "home" application and it doesnt have a big impact on the DBcache...

I use OffFlushDA to flush the DBCache prior to using VersaMail or Blazer. If I don't do this prior to launching Blazer, it not only takes forever to flush the cache itself, it also won't download. If I don't flush before loading VM, VM freezes after viewing a couple of emails.

I too use OffFlush as well as unCache - the combination works together to give me maximum cache size. I use iSpin for my 3rd party launcher and don't even have it on my unCache list (I found it doesn't need to be there) and this saves a lot of cache space. As a result I don't have issue opening Blazer at all. BTW - I OffFlush my cache only at power off and below 60%. I have determined experimentally that Blazer requires a cache minimum of 54% for it to open quickly otherwise as CD has said Blazer will try to flush the cache itself which will take an eternity.

I just suck it up myself. My TX is zippy as hell after a hard reset. Once I load all the cool stuff it starts to slow down. I live with the slight lag knowing that I have a more custom UI and a few extra features.

same trend but even more noticeable with a lifedrive but it is (just about) worth the extra lag..

it is, indeed, my friend ;)
its true, if you want better performance then no hacks (well maybe some of them) and no skins at all is the way to go. But, if the performance doesnt mean taht much to you then load all skins that make the UI more... friendly :)
As for me, my TX is very, but VERY, stable with all the things i have. But ive seen that what really makes the difference in speed is the processor speed (or the BUS speed), some transitions with SkinUI, and other hacks... I have warpseed to 212mhz and its a bit slow, for some programs, but where i need speed, then its upt to 546mhz also if i have skinUI to full transition detail, then it is very slow.
but back on topic, also, i dont know if the "flush" speed depends on the cpu speed. Say i flush the DBcache in the notepad(212mhz) its a bit slower if i do it in RescoExplorer (520mhz). Of course it depends on how much it needs to flush but maybe it does changes with the cpu speed?
