My font substitution utility has been updated.

It should now work better with AvantGo:
http://zlthemes.com/Programs.php
http://palmgear.com/?xyz=90288

Here are some notes on AvantGo:
The front page of some channels is laid out by AvantGo assuming the widths
of the standard system font. Thus, if the chosen font has characters wider than in the
standard font, some text will be cut off. This issue may not affect all channels and it
seems that further pages of a channel are unaffected. Moreover,
on devices with rotation, one can re-flow the text to fit the selected font by pressing the
rotate button twice. A good idea, thus, is to use a font whose widths are slightly smaller
than in the standard system font to prevent text cut-off. Utopia 16 is a good choice.
Or you can just turn off FontSmoother for AvantGo with "App. active" in Advanced mode."

Thanks pruss! hmmm a quick question, are you going to support the hack fontsmoother 1.77 ? I am not using this application because Ive never had problems with the fonts at all. But i will consider a change if its definitively better for my TX to load a whole app rather than just another hack with YAHM.

Oh, and by the way, have a merry christmas and a happy new year :)

Highlighting will always be flawed in some apps. The color-swapping method of highlighting that many apps use just doesn't work with FontSmoother. FontSmoother's Smart Highlight tries to guess how to do it right, but that only works sometimes. You might try a color scheme where the highlight uses dark text on a light background.

Thanks.

I messed around with the color scheme a bit and came up with an acceptable solution.

What I did was launch PalmRevolt and tapped "Add"

Then, I selected "Calendar" from the list of applications. I tapped Calendar in the list of "Exclusions" and then tapped "Configure"

The following are checked: "Enable skin"; "High-color mode by default"

The following are not checked: "Force High-Color display mode" and "Don't skin the window title"

Fields is set to Default

5-Way is set to default behavior

***This one makes the change*** Set Color theme to "Default colors"

Make sure that "Calendar" is in the list of exclusions and that it is checked.

That's it!

Left-to-right fonts, certainly. Either EasyConvert (http://www.palmgear.com/?xyz=104888) or the included Quick Make Font will support Russian fonts, albeit only in Windows encoding. I expect that right-to-left fonts may have kerning that is off, but you can try it.

If you want KOI8, you'll need a Windows font encoded for KOI8, and then to convert that in Western mode. That might miss some chars--I don't know.

What do You mean by "...have kerning that is off"?

Will the FontSmoother work properly in case that I'm using English, Russian and Hebrew fonts at the same time?

The spacing between characters will be uneven.

Well, I don't know what software you use for showing all three fonts at the same time.

I suggest you just try it and see if it works for you.

You could make your own Hebrew font with EasyConvert or Quick Make Font, and see if that works.

Pruss,

I want to tell you that I appreciate your work in all software that you release for free.
G-d bless you enormously!!!

I have a question for you. And if somebody knows something about I will appreciate the help.

I use Plucker no few hours at day,(I am a spanish parlant) with PPI and SlovoEd I can understand better the webpages in English.

But, suddendly occurs to me an idea to learn Hebrew using Plucker, in the same way that I am learning English.

Converting the webpages in Hebrew using Sunrise to Plucker format was successfully, but reading the content in Plucker appears only ????? characters.

I want to know the possible solutions.

I have looking for Hebrew font for Plucker but was unsuccessfully.

I will appreciate your kindly help.

I have downloaded Easy Convert but in the installation process, says "though not yet Hebrew or Greek", I have downloaded your software FontSmoother in order to try make my own Hebrew font, and I will appreciate, your kindly suggestions, too.

Result: Unsuccessful.

Plucker continues with the same ???? symbol in each character.

My computer runs WinXP, I have installed the fonts for Hebrew, but it does not work.

Help me!!!

Please!!!

I have tried with Plucker Desktop and the result: Partially Success.

Using Hebrew Piloc, I can see the Hebrew characters in Plucker, but using PPI, to call SlovoEd, the clipboard does not copy the exact characters.

I have to disable the BiDi Mechanism with Piloc Monitor in order to SlovoEd work.

In Bible+, with the Hebrew Bible, after a while, 2 or 3 minutes the Hebrew Characters change into Roman characters with accent like this ÊËÈıÍÎ, but no capitals.
PPI works better but most of the words not appear in the SlovoEd dictionary.

Of course, my explanation is out of place, but this is the result to think FontSmoother could solve the problem.

Thanks everybody.

That's a known issue: I forgot to update the version number. What you have is 2.08.

Thanks Pruss. Could we have option of "selective update" and "selective backup"? For instance backup of memos, notes, sms/e-mails, contacts etc.

I don't think backup has much to do with FontSmoother... maybe you meant to post that in one of the NVBackup threads?
