Hi all,

I have just been given this new Palm Lifedrive and I am afraid that all I have managed to do is put a few contacts in at this stage.

I have tried to set it up so that my email can be accessed but doesn't work for me at the moment.

I am completely new at this and need a kind simaritan who has the time to help me set it up and explain stuff to me.

Of course , no jargon please. Simple terms. I can view the online help that came with it but sure not understanding it too well.

I tried to download some games and it says they will be available from the next sync but I have synced and still nothing there.

There is quite a nice manual which come with palm pdas. Put you palm desktop cd into the drive and choose to read a getting started guide or something similar. Should help you understand the basics.

Of course, feel free to ask more specific questions on the forum?

Welcom to the Palm-universe! :-)
My suggestion would be to just start using it, but without all your 'real' data on it. This way you can experiment, try things out, not being afraid you'll delete something you shouldn't. Then, when you feel more comfortable, know the basic stuff, know how to write (with the PDA recognizing your handwriting), only then start using it 'for real'.
Give it a hard rest (that's a reset that wipes everything you installed and all data, and brings your PDA back to new-like factory state) and install the apps you tried and like, and start using it for basis things.
Hope you'll like it as much as we do...there's much to discover. Have fun!

And.... You should also download the updates for LD. It should make it more stable and fix some bugs etc. Though someone here may say that it isn't so good to install the updates but that is my advice, because usually they will fix more than destroy your device.

However after you have tryed your ld and tested it limits and so on like IEMAND said, you should first get yourseld a memory card and a backup software. For that way you can take copy of your important databases to your LD and if you will loss some data you can easily tap restore and bring your data back without any kind of nerve breakdowns.

And always if something happens just stay calm and come to talk us so we can help you. I'm just saying that because many come here angry because there is something "wrong" with their device.

Also, it is recommended that you get quite big memory card and put all the most important data to there and media to hard drive of LD. Just because there has been some kind of stability problems with LD hard drive so it can loss it data.

Anyway there was the emergenzy instuctions. You might never get problems with your Ld but it is good to get ready in all kinds of machines stuff. Also, usually if you anyone Ld's user installs lot of 3th party apps there will be problems so get only apps which you really use, in that way your device will be stabile, faster and trustfull in many ways without any extra stuff. Enjoy :)
