So, Sony does not want to allow drivers on the Clie's that would allow CF memory cards to be used, so owners would have to purchase "their" MS? Is this correct.

So they put a CF slot onto their devices thinking that someone wasn't going to try to develop drivers themselves?

It's unfortunate that a company has to be so selfish.

What happens if everyone with a clie finds out about the newly developed CF driver and the MS sales drop off considerably?

Hell Sony could of developed the driver and sold it similar to what eruware is doing and would of made profit off of that. Now they are going to lose some money by not developing the driver. Could this hurt them? I hope so!

I don't think the cfdriver has hurt any of Sony's sales at all. I think it has done just the opposite. Lots of people have posted that they use both the ms and the cf. Some have even purchased the clie just for the use of the driver. Anyway, the cf wouldn't be here if it weren't for the clie.

why do you say that cliener?

Sony did not develop the CF, they developed the MS

no sony device uses CF. Most other digital cameras use CF. CF does not need Sony.

He says that because many people who were hesitant to buy clies before are now eagerly buying them. Sony's revenue is increasing because of device sales. Furthermore, the average user will still use MS as their primary data storage media for their clies. Lastly, most users that will make use of the CF driver will still purchase and use MS.

I agree with this. When I bought my NX in December, it was after ClieSource had announced the competition for a CF driver. I figured that one would come out of this, and I went ahead and bought my NX. When no driver was produced, I began to worry that it would not be possible. I'm glad it was possible and that it has been released.

Maybe, if Sony sees that this is increasing their sales, they'll include drivers in future models. Though, as some have speculated, they may simply drop the CF slot all together.

It's a boon to Sony, other users who have none Sony cameras, can now use the clie to view their pics. The end result is that more users will buy the clie, just for the CF slot. With adapters, other memory cards can be used like Multi-Media and SD also.

wearnt sony sales good before the nx/nz? arent the clie's the best palm unit around?

sony have had a good track record of making (as opposed to after sales service) palm units. yes, i think the cf issue has helped sony sales lately but i dont think its a big issue for them

so what if they drop the cf slot in future models? you think their sales would drop down considerably? dont think so...

i love the cf slot in the nx. i just dont think sony gives a damn
