Hello Guys,
I have a new Palmone TX.Initially, the hotsync operation would end without it requesting to be reset. However, since I installed KeySuite from Chapura, after every hotsync operation there is a request for a reset which,if not done, noting else can be done on the device.I don't know if KeySuite is responsible for the action. However, the software is so expensive($69) and it interfaces so completely with Outlook,I do not want to throw it away.
Please tell me if there is a way to prevent the problem other than removing software. Thanks in advance.

Can you check the settings of the hotsync conduits (right-click Hotsync manager in your taskbar, Custom) ?
System should be set to Handheld overwrites Desktop (it is the ONLY one that ALWAYS needs to be set like that). If it was set differently, remember to tick 'set as default' when changing or it will revert back.

I have done all that.I am not any aware of any setting in the hotsync manager which would cause the device to reset at the end of each operation. What I know the manager does is to allow you to bypass the synchronizing of information with the computer;but, maybe I might be overlooking something.Tell me what you think the problem in that area could be.Thanks

sounds like you are getting something installed to the handheld each hot sync with the attribute of "reset after install" maybe you could check the hotsync log on the computer to see what all gets transferred each hotsync.

Since you think KeySuite may be responsible for the resets, remove it from the TX and set the conduit to do nothing. Sync a few times and see if the resets cease.

I do not think a complete removal is needed, try first simply disabling the conduit on your device.

It could be a corrupt file in Memo or Contacts, etc. Try disabling each of the Outlook conduits, then renable them one at a time. If you hit one conduit that causes the problem then one or more of the files within that catagory may be corrupted. (Hope it is not a contact!) I had this problem with Memos and was able to isloate and delete the offending memo.

If corruption in the PIMs databases is in order, there should be some indication on screen.
Something like :
DataMgr.c, Line:8898, DmWrite:
DmWriteCheck failed

calimatchus, are you seeing something like this ? Anything else ?

You can also try backing up then deleting the contents of the backup and archive folders. I have found this solves many hotsync problems. The one time I had a problem similar to the one you describe was when I had an offending app on my TX called Crony. When I finally isolated the app and deleted it, my TX stopped resetting after every hotsync.

HMM, I've run into this before and on my TX it was because of the DTG prefs and temp database messing up(you need to wipe both). Dataviz does have a solution for that though:
This worked for me like a charm:
http://support.dataviz.com/support.srch?docid=13568
I know it talks about soft resets after opening documents, but it fixed the hotsync problem for me as well.
Hope this helps :)

Kiteandcamera's solution has worked.I suspected that that application was the cause.I am now in need of an application which can completely interface with Outlook.I used to have Beyond Contacts on my Treo 650.However,I tried it on my TX and it did not work very well.I think I'll try it again.
I wish to thank everyone else for thier helpful suggestions.
If anyone knows of an application that works flawlessly with Outlook please let me know.I presently use Outlook to monitor about 700 contacts with detailed information.

Chapura makes decent products. Don't give up on KeySuite until you contact Chapura Tech Support. I still use Pocket Mirror from my old Palm days, and it works fine on a Clie. Perhaps you can also test drive Pocket Mirror Pro (or whatever it is called these days).
