It seems that there is some trouble with the .mp3 download feed. If you are having trouble downloading the show, you can download it directly to your computer using the following link:

Whatever the issue was with iTunes it seems to be resolved now (regarding podcast 106).

Reggie has informed me that he found the problem in the podcast feed. It was an extra back quote somewhere in the feed item tags for show 105. The issue has been corrected and shows 105 and 106 should both download normally.

Great podcast, I think the palm developments of late show great promise. I wish palm would make their intentions known regarding handhelds. I still don't have a reason to own a smart phone.

I wish palm would make their intentions known regarding handhelds.
I think they have. In the last conference call, Ed Colligan referred to the handheld business as being a plane that is coming in for a soft landing and that the runway is now visible from the window.
There are two things that I want to say to that point. First is that Palm is still making money of their handheld business and as such, they will continue to offer devices that people are willing to buy.
Secondly, there is a third business that is being developed at Palm around Jeff Hawkins' latest research/designs. This device, which I've seen some refer to as the "Hawk", I suspect, will have features that overlap in the Palm handheld market.

Alan,
Good cast. I am a lot more optimistic than I have been in a long time that Palm is executing on a trasistion to the Treo and "Hawk" (or whatever) that will not require a complete terraforming of the Palm ecosystem. I can't see them spending 44 mill not to have plans form an overhaul of Garnet and the Palm OS II that would not include good support for legacy apps They could have probably spent a lot less to get a perpetuall license to just the the Palm UI and then slapped it on to the plumbing of their choice. By getting the whole bundle of sticks, I think that devs are going to be able to look forward to a sane and stable library of APIs and some support that cares. I really hope that Tyler is at the chat tonight as I would like to know what he thinks about all this as well.
BTW, Alan, have you been following the hintfest between David Beers and Michael Mace reegarding the "third business"?

I think that you are right. While handhelds might be going by the wayside, in terms of annual sales dollars, the "Hawk" will show us what else mobile computing can do. And I think Palm OS II is going to be playing a part in the next phase of new software that we are going to see on our favorite handheld mobile computers.
Building in a layer that preserves compatibility with today's large software library is key. And it will give developers the time they need to convert their software code without causing major disruptions to their business.
When I read that Palm was paying PalmSource $30 million to acquire full rights to the use of the name "PALM" I knew it was only going to be a matter of time before the Palm OS came home also.

This week has been really busy for me and I've been working late at the office for most of the week, hence the reason why the editorial and podcast where so late this week. I do keep an eye on Michael Mace's MobileOpportunity (http://mobileopportunity.blogspot.com/) and David Beers' blog (http://www.pikesoft.com/blog/) on a weekly basis. Just not this week. Both of these guys have a very keen insight as to what is going on at Palm and proves to be a good resource for us geeks. :)

Yes you may. No one has sent any in yet and you would be the first. Please keep the audio postcard between 5-7 minutes and send it to 1srcpodcast@gmail.com. I will include it in next week's podcast.
Anyone else? Don't forget to send in your thoughts on the new Treo 680 for inclusion in next week's show.

Keep up the great work, I really look forward to each new edition.
If I can make a suggestion ... to not clap in front of the mic, almost blew out my eardrum when listening on my iPod
