View Full Version : HandyShopper 2.7.5
At PalmGear. Bug fixes, plus allows databases to be stored in VFS.

Thanks for the tip.
The expansion card support was a little disappointing in that you have to select the database EVERY TIME YOU START THE APP.
I only have one H.S. database, and so I moved it to the required directory. Starting up H.S. results in a dialog allowing me to select the database. I do so, and it works fine. I quit H.S., then restart it, and I am again asked to select a database. There's no memory of the last database I used.
This is a great app and I certainly appreciate the effort that goes into it and the price! I just wish it would support hires+ and remember the last database it opened.

The developer did add support for apps like this that allow square apps to take advantage of high-res+. It works great with HS as long as you don't try to bring the VG area back, but just using it with my keyboard works fine. I agree it would be nicer not to have to use an outside app, but the developer doesn't have a high-res+ device, so I'll take what I can get.

:) BTW, I'm a beta tester for HS (though the VFS version was never released as a beta, which is strange). I sent Chris Antos a message on the beta board with the concerns about the new VFS implementation. I've also found that it doesn't like it when you move the current database to external memory. After you do that, it won't show up in the DB list, then you can't move it back to RAM. I had to restore from my backup file.

The VFS support is nice, but since I use my DB's hand in hand with HS2Edit.xls, I'm hoping there will be some support for syncing the DB's to the memstick in the future.

The database drop-list in HS2 v2.7.5 is noticeably slower. That's interesting considering that I haven't even loaded any HS2 databases to MS yet.

Nevermind, I guess I was the one who was confused-- I didn't realize, till I saw your example, how to change the categories for the store items. Duh!

New build released today, that now remembers the last DB you were using and automatically loads it from MS.:)
I just downloaded the 2.7.5 last week and it's already coming out with 2.7.5b. This guy works fast.
I like the additional option to move DB to card and automatic loading DB from MS. In 2.7.5 I had to go to FileZ to move DB to MS (/Palm/Programs/HandyShopper) manually, which is a pain. I wish his Icon Manager can be done like this 2.7.5b (storing other icon DB in MS w/o using FileZ, I mean).
Now I also put HandyShopper app in MS (Palm/Launcher) to save my low resource of free RAM space.

HS2 v2.7.5b fixes this problem! :)
The autoload feature is just what I'm looking for. I rarely make shopping lists from my master grocery store list on my Clie. I usually use HS2Edit.xls and Pinstall to install back to the handheld. Now I can use Pinstall to install to the MS, and have HandyShopper load it each time.
