Just downloaded Opera Mini 3.0 on my TX. Time to downgrade to 2.0, since 3.0 keeps on crashing.

Ditto, keep resetting my TX so I dumped it.

The same here. My TX doesn't like version 3 at all. So I'm back to v2.

Cheers.

Opera 3 on E2 - smooth install via hotsync, deadly crash.. Had to soft reset my palm and delete.. Thanks god for backups..

!!Don't even try it on Samsung SCH i539, as it causes neverending loop. Warm reset doesn't work!!

There were two different versions of Opera Mini for the Palm OS, Basic and Advanced. Also Opera had some silent upgrades. I know of at least 2 versions of Opera Mini 2.0 (3920 & 4062), I'm quite sure there were more. Therefore, when posting your experience with Opera Mini, try to include what version you were using in addition to what device you were trying to use it on.

To find what version you are using, either:
Look at the PRC file name as it was when downloaded from Opera (assuming you downloaded it to your desktop).
In Opera mini (if you can), perform a Menu, Tools, Help. Then at the Help page, select About.
In my case:
File name: opera-mini-3.0.6306-advanced-us.prc
About Screen: Could not get there.
Device: LifeDrive.

Falling back to:
File name: operator-mini-2.0.4062-advance-int.prc
About Screen: Opera Mini hifi woodland int v. 2.0.4062.20060516

Hmm, obviously there is a US vs an international version also.

A new version Opera 3.0 (build 6358) has been posted: Opera 3.0 b6358 (mini.opera.com/global/opera-mini-3.0.6358-advanced-int.prc)

Before install it's recommended to delete all traces from previous Opera 2.0 installs (including the whole JAVA setup) and to perform a soft-reset. I've done that and after the re-install of JAVA and with this new Opera 3.0 build it works fine on my TX. :D

Additionally one has to to change the JAVA preferences to (found in in Palm Prefs):
- Use Double Buffering
- Use high resolution coordinates
- (Optionally) Set Memory Maximum to 4 Mb (it is 1 Mb by default which works for me)
- Set Maximum Java Thread Stack Size to 32 Kb

Cheers.

Question: How did you download it? Currently when I try to download it using the PC method it, no matter what device I select it always offers me 6306 build.

Ack, sorry about that. It is hard to notice the links some times on this board. The difference between blue on white without underline for links, and black on white for text is rather subtle (until one mouse overs them).

Would you remind me again of where to go to get the best JAVA app for my Palm TX?

Suggest you choose the T5 as the T|X will be shown as unavailable. Works just fine too!

Am sorry to say, but Opera for Palm still sucks: cannot view some websites normally... it simply throws away some part of the text!!!!! Making it unreadable.
