I thought I would post here as there seems to be a lot of users that have replaced stuff on their Clie. I have an N760C and broke the digitizer. I got a replacement for 10.00 and shipping. I removed the old one (in pieces) and was able to thread the cable through and plug it in. First time, it did not work at all. I replugged the cable abd was able to calibrate it and run it. I took it home and now nothing. I tried a hard reset and still no response from teh digitizer. It worked for a while, though the calibration was not good. Now, it will not work at all. The cable is tightly fitted in the connector. I get the startup screen (1 of 4) and cannot get a response from the screen. No cracks, looks great, just no response.

(edit) update. I got it back in and it seems to work and just fine. Dunno what was wrong, but I pulled all connectrors and reconnected and screwed it back together. I did notice that the position of the digitizer is important for calibration since it only uses 3 points... Also, it seems to 'change' over time and I need to recalibrate it. This is with a new digitizer...

(edit2) left it in the cradle, now teh digitizer does not work at al again. no response. I must've killed it.

Comments, suggestions?

Digitisers are simple devices, and as such are difficult to kill unless the semiconductive top plastic sheet debonds from the conductive edge of the glass substrate. Check that there are no permanent areas of contact between the bezel and the digitiser that could throw off the calibration. Also look for a possible dry solder join between the ffc (ribbon) connector and the pcb. Digitisers are also subject to temperature and pressure drift.

But it generally works when the digitiser is not inside the case?
