View Full Version : how long does your battery last? (SL10 vs. SJ30)
i might be switching from the sl10 to sj30. on the good side of the sl10 is the replaceble battery. i do use 2 aaa-accus and tested them with a program called BatteryTIME v1.61. (no backlight, no overclocking)
my sl10 did 7:34 (h:min).
i am very interested in your results:) :p
for those who want to use the same program:

its easy to handle and freeware!!!

don't know actual numbers, but i just came back from a 3-day road trip, playing with my sj30 fairly often (an hour or more each day?), and didn't get down to 50% till the last day. in fact, it was at 53% when i got back home and plugged the charger back in.

At 100% brightness, the SJ30 lasts just over 3 hours. Of course, if you turn the brightness at 25%, it would lasts longer.
Solid device. BUY IT :) Once you're hooked on the SJ30, you won't go back to monochrome again.

you are correct sir!
mine lasted about 5-6 days. average use about 30-40 minutes per day. brightness at 40%.
it's usually get down pretty fast though once your batt. level is at 20%++.
thanx for the replies,
i wish someone could use the program to get more objective facts about this. nevermind cliefreaks out there, i just think the most of you do really love their toy and this makes it a bit hard for me, to realize the real advantage between the sj30 and the sl10 in the question of battery life.:)

To me, the difference between the SJ-10 and the SJ-30 isn't a question of battery life, but the fact that it's backlit color as opposed to unbacklit monochrome and 16 megs as opposed to 8 megs, but I guess it's a matter of opinion. If battery life is really a huge issue for you, then you might want to look at the SJ-10 or SJ-20, or get the SJ-30 and one of those extended battery modules that gives you 3-5 charges from 4 AA batteries (there was a link in a previous post).

The differences in results between the SL10 and the SJ30-at low brightness-will not be significant.

Heartily agreed...
I jumped from the Handera330 (with a battery life of a marathon runner) to the SJ30, whose battery more resembles my dismal attempts to survive a five-minute jog...but it's worth it.
I think battery life is overrated (no pun intended), and relates more to how to use the unit (i.e., how long you're away from the mother dock) than actual time to power loss. I find my SJ30 goes down a lot (it's at 33% this morning after using it for 2-3 hours last night...and I tend to run with the backlight full-on most of the time), but when I get in the office in the mother dock it will go and charge up quickly.
One necessary accesory to have is the portable recharger (the one that holds 4-AA batteries). I keep that in my briefcase or car, and while I haven't had to use it yet, I know that if I'm out and lose power, I can plug that puppy in. I posted a message about the ones on sale on eBay over in the Clie Accessories forum. At $8-10 they were easier to swallow than the $40 contribution to Sony's executive pension plan.
Cheers,
Gary
