Just for fun: NX70V camera vs Zire 71 camera

This isn't some "ha ha my NX 70V is better than yout Zire 71" thread, but just a curiosity satisfying comparasin between the two units' camera quality.

Obviously one unit started off at $600, and other at $300, so let's not go there with this thread eh? ;)

Two pics, same subject, same location, same lighting conditions, 2 seconds apart.

From the Zire 71, at maximum res, auto everything (~60KB):

Anyway, the NX70v's camera looks sharp. The Zire... looks blurry and washed out.

Well the Zire's file is half the size, but I do like the picture taken by the NX much better...so the geeks :P will stick with the NX, but what about the average consumer....Sony? Where are the new units?

Yeah, I think the quality of the CMOS elements of both units are similar, except the camera software on the Zire just compresses the heck out of the file. I didn't see anything in the options to adjust that either.

Either way, I like the Zire alot. Great bang for the buck, even if you don't care about the camera. It's very neat-o. SJ-33's days are numbered, and the ball's in Sony's court.

If the camera was a big part of my purchase, I would have to take the NX over the Z71. The quality difference (sharpness mostly) is pretty obvious. Great comparison shot!

Ummmm..... that poor guy (who shall remain nameless to protect his identity) who modeled for me is not me. It's darn impossible to center yourself like that if you are shooting yourself with either device.

I've seen pics taken from nx70 in a bright environment .. however the pics were not as sharp as the one here ... that's very strange.

I find the sharpness of that picture very believable, its not that sharp and you certainly couldnt blow the shot up very much. In any case, nice comparsion and thanks for answering a question that has been on alot of our minds
