I installed it and a few days later couldn't sync at all. Pressing sync button on cradle would immediately freeze my TX, requiring reset. Removing the patch fixed it.

Yeah, I agree. Same thing happened to me It was another Palm disaster...
I dunno, maybe the buyout would be a good idea.

I know what you mean. It's like Palm is trying to self-destruct. They also haven't updated desktop in years to fix several bugs.

I actually haven't had any problems; in fact it seemed to stop my TX from turning on sometime in the middle of the night, running the battery out and then doing a reset (not necessarily in that order - I was asleep and did not witness). I will certainly keep this warning in mind though should I start having HotSync problems... none so far with a dozen or so HotSyncs, though.

Interesting. I've never had any of these problems. I wonder if not all TXs have the same firmware or something, and this patch fixes some and breaks others...

I thought how can they screw up somthing so trivial and didn't belive the previous posters. As soon as the patch is installed, everything froze. Reset and everything worked again for a few minutes and then froze.
Took the patch out about an hour later. Palm needs people to test their patches prior to releasing, and not count on the feedbacks from early adoptors.

Bestoverall, I'm having the same problem after I installed the new cradle patch on my TX. You said after you removed the patch your TX was fine again. Can you tell me where the patch is stored on the TX and the exact file name so I can use the ZLauncher File Manager to delete it.
Thanks for the help.

Maranatha, I don't recall what the name was. I just looked into the Palm support site and the name seems to be "PalmTX_cradlepatch.prc".
I use Uninstall program from Northglide and it does wonders for removing unwanted files an such.

I believe the file name is: TXPwrOutSleepWake.
Uninstall Manager will only work if it was installed when the program was originally loaded, unless you already know what file you want to delete.

had the same issue with the patch and had to uninstall it right away again.
Nevertheless "interesting" to see that the patch is still around  though wherever you look a lot of folks complain about the functionality.
Here's a minor note about why I thought it would be good to have the patch installed - would be interested to see if you folks have the same observation regarding this behavior:
in some cases I had the issue that when I plugged my TX into the cradle it started the HotSync process right away without me having pushed the HS button.
While living with it for a couple of weeks I noticed that the typical "boinc" sound you hear while attaching the TX to your PC sometimes came from the speakers of my stereo headset which was connect to the cradle rather from the TXes loudspeaker.
Since I unattached the stereo headset from the cradle I never noticed the HS starting on its own again when I put the TX into the cradle.

Coming from an old Casio E-115 Pocket PC, I suddenly realized that I no longer could access the internal files without additional software.
Also, had the Palm TX freeze when using the PalmOne cradle.
Used Unistall to remove the errant .prc file and all seems well again.
Must read their manuals to not screw things up....
Thanks All
