View Full Version : 1 Gig of Mp3 Music Files

Now that I can (theoretically speaking) have 1 GB of Mp3 music on my CF card, what can I do about organizing the songs into albums using the Sony player software? Unless I'm missing something somewhere, I'm going to have a big long list of individual music files to navigate through (not that I'm complaining about having the problem, which I didn't have until yesterday).

Yep, another of Sony's shortsightedness!

Hope there will be a better mp3 player other than the builtin one. At least I want the following BASIC feature for the player :

1. Browse by artist/album. (Not just a long long list of all songs.)
2. Repeat one/Repeat all/Shuffle/Random for program play
3. Playlist handling

If there is no such appl. yet, I am willing to write one myself. But just I can't find any related API released from Sony....

I heard that you could create a text file, give it a special name, then put it in the MSAUDIO directory. But I can't seem to find it. Its in the forums somewhere.

BTW, this trick creates a playlist.

In your /PALM/MSAUDIO folder, you'll see a file named MP3LIST.M3U... edit it with your favorite text editor to create a new playlist and put it back to the CF :)

Actually there is a better MP3 player out there that hasnt been talked about in a while. It can be found here. (http://ajvmp3.paradise.net.nz/) I think it is still in beta though and may not have been updated in a while, but works on my NR.

Thanks Shane:

Hi Ken

We bought the driver too and its not going to be a problem at all for the OS5 version of ajvmp3 to work in the Multi VFS environment.

Regards

Shane

As you are probably aware, a driver has been made available for the Clie NX and NZ series (os5) that allows the use of CFs. The result is that a lot of mp3 files can be played from the CF. The Sony player software does not allow for the creation of albums or the helpful navigation through a lot of music. On a thread at ClieSource your player was mentioned as a possible better alternative, although at this time it does not support os5. I think that those on the thread would appreciate any information related to how soon your program might be usable for NX and NZ owners.

Thanks,

Ken Johnson
