Help!!!!

I am trying to run video (mpg or avi) and flash (swf) via the blazer 4.3 which came standard on my TX. Doing this by having a link to the respective files on the html page. After clicking the link, Blazer asks if I want to download the file, it downloads it from my home server to the PDA but never plays the video or flash (Had to device this round-about mechanism since 4.3 does not support video and flash!!!)

Not getting this thing to work is driving me nuts... I have also tried accessing file by saving it directly to the PDA, via file:///HTML/testing.mpg even this does not work.
My PDA has the following installed: Macromedia Flash player 5, FileZ, IBM Java VM. I have perused all the threads in the forum looking for a solution but didn't find any. (Actually the threads helped me in installing Flash, Java VM, FileZ :) )

Can someone please explain how can I get Blazer to directly launch the video and flash...

Many thanks in advance

Anxiously looking for help!!!

Can some one let me know of the following:
1. How can I launch video's through blazer
2. How can I play a swf file, currently when I launch the flash player it does not see any swf files, also there is no way to search for swf files on the PDA either..

Please....

Just saw this at PalmAddicts:

"Currently, the only Flash player for the Palm OS platform is one which ships with Sony Clie handhelds. This player is only capable of playing content up to version 5.0, leaving out a large portion of the Flash content available on the web."

The flash player will only play up to Flash 5.0 files but it won't play it in the web browser.

Even mpg files don't play in the browser. If a page has a link to a video the palm requests to download the file but does not launch the player. One has to manually go to the player to view the video...

Is there a mechanism to have the browser launch the video?

yes there is a mechanism. you need the player to support streaming and handle the rtsp protocol, and tell the exchange manager that

Thanks .... :-)

Isn't rtsp for streaming? but here we are only making the blazer launch the media player automatically (Something similar to what IE does, it can either play the media within the browser or launch Windows Media Player to play the clip) So that makes it non-real time since the entire media has already been downloaded to the device? Or maybe I am missing something.

In either case is there a version of Blazer available that supports these features? Possibly Blazer 4.5 for TX?

I had read few threads which mentioned you working on a Blazer 4.5 version for TX? But all the Treo related function calls was preventing you from running 4.5 on TX...

There are two video players for palm os which can stream video. One of the is MMplayer and another is Kinoma player 4EX which can also stream WMA. Though I don't do you need to write the url to the players to stream them or do you just need to click some video in the browser and watch it. Also I'm not sure will this streaming work on which browsers. And for third there aren't really a reviews about Kinoma 4EX but one has said tha it works but only in certain sites and another did say that there are some problems with it. Anyway it is quite new so they could update it. But for browser I would recommend Netfront 3.1. You can get more information about internet browsers from my thread where is long list of browsers. Ouh and for flash you can't stream them what ever you do. Though you can download and play them on the flash player. Put the flash files to PALM/Programs/MMflash folder.

Netfront was one of the options I was considering. But I am not sure if it supports playing mpeg files in the browser or as an advance step, support streaming? Can you confirm?

I would love to have Blazer simply play a locally stored Mpeg file by clicking a link in the browser. Even that does not work with Blazer 4.3!!! would this work with Netfront 3.1?

Ya, I can plan verison 5 Flash files by storing them to the MMflash folder but they don'y play when directly to the Palm memory. So it seems to play flash files one needs to invest in an additional SD card....

SD card is needed for all native file formats.

Will TCPMP play your locally stored mpeg files? Do they have to be launched via the web browser if they are stored on a SD card?
