Is it possible to use the UX50 as a webcam to have video conversations over the internet? Ive found posts promoting the idea of using the UX50 as an external webcam for a desktop but none really for using the device with software as a webcam. Im off to Australia for a year and may look into setting something up where I can chat to family back home. For example, I could be connected via a wifi hotspot in Sydney and chat the folks back home on their desktop.

Any possibilities?

Cheers

I don't think the ux50 has the processing power or the memory to handle streaming video and audio at the same time even with the special audio/video dsp. I haven't even seen much for simple voip that will work on the ux.

There was once an application that allowed you to connect your UX to a PC and use the built-in camera as a webcam, but as for "live" videoconferencing, I don't think anything was ever produced. VoIP still proves a problem, so video streaming seems even less likely.
