Seriously, this game is as amazing as it is beatiful! I am simply stunned at the attentino of detail there is in this game also I am amazed that PS2 can display this kind of beatiful graphics! Level of detail is simply amazing and the cities are filled with life as characters move from point to point and talking to other people. Real time is awesome, the characters emotions are amazing and voice acting is pretty good.
I love how the story moves away from 'save the world' type of story to a political type of story so that is a refreshing change of pace. The characters are simple and real. The skypirate is great along with his partner :D.
As for the battles, I love how they made it like a real world feel to it, no longer when you start the game you fight weak monsters and gradually powerful monsters appear...nope, now they powerful ones roam around with the weak. When I first was introduced to the desert and saw this T-rex I had this mindset that I can fight anything I see and be alright like other FF games and figured this T-rex must be a baby to be introduced this early, so what do I do? I pull out my sword, run up to this 'baby rex' and hit this thing in the hind leg for 0HP....I was screwed when it turned around and KO me in one chomp! AWESOME! Now I have to watch out what monsters I fight. Now as for the battle system, at first it was a lil boring but when the Licsense board and gambit system became playable, then it got better. Battle is of course real time and fast paced, no more waiting around and thinking what to do. What I love about the gambit system is that it gives you the ability to make any character into whatever you want to be. If you want a black mage go ahead and give him gambits to make him cast black magic on enemies, if you want it to be a white mage and cure the party, just give that character the gambits to cast white magic on characters. Its that great and right now I am working on getting Vaan to be a black mage. You will have to spend hours upon hours to grind to get you your License Points. Right now I believe I'm at 12 hours deep and still grinding away to get me points. With LP, they give you very lil LP with monsters, most of the time just one LP.If your into customizing the character then you will love this game! I believe I won't finish this game by the time the Wii comes out as the game is massive and there are so many sidequest in here. This is the perfect FF game I've been waiting for a long time. It even beats out 6 for me.

The game looks good. The fighting system looks to be very complex and rewarding once one figures it all out. The openess of the battles looks to be good, I would need to try it. It reminds me of WOW, which is pretty good.

Anway, I'll play this once I get a PS3, so it will be a year or so, or if the PS2 slim drops to a dirt cheap prcie, I'll pick one up.
