Hi all,

2007 is fast approaching. We are thinking of improving the site's look and would like to ask everyone's suggestions. Here are some ideas to start with. Comment on them and/or add new suggestions:

1. News system will be changed to Wordpress. This will allow news items to be more optimized for tagging and for search engines. Replies will be directly to the article as how blogs do it now.

2. To unclutter the main page, how about using tabs for each section -- this will minimize scrolling vertically - all you have to do is click on the tab for news, Active Forum Topics, Latest Freeware, Classifieds, etc.

3. The left column for navigation will be redone (no idea yet how it should look like)

4. How about an all Treo (Palm OS and WM) section?

Your turn. :D

If I'm understanding this correctly - We'll see the news article (the full thing, not this click here to read more stuff) and then in forum style, be able to make posts directly following it. I'm all for this. I hate to say it, but I never read the news here as I hate having to navigate more than once to read an article.

The initial plan is, all replies will be now be embedded below the article, just like any regular blog entry. Discussions will therefore not be redirected to the forums.

Longer version of the News/Articles will be on the main page and since the sections are tabbed, there will be no need to scroll down to view the Active Forum Topics for example.

all treo section? is the mobile page not enough ?

my suggestion, is there any chance to eliminate (if possible) the little links of intelliTXT, no matter what pc you are using? it would be just TERRIFIC

I mean a new news section that also covers WM Treo news. All the while we have been not covering WM Treos since this is a Palm OS-only site.

How about having a look at the styles when using a mobile PDA browser ?
When using Xiino on my T3 the threads just look awful here: light grey on a white background ... try reading that
Tip: have a look at BrightHand Mobile 2 style ;)

As for News system, I prefer to have the full article on the front page but NOT the comments. Let those stay in the forums ...

How about an RSS feed with the full articles ? Easier to retrieve with QuickNews and alikes.

Personally I am indifferent to include WM as well, but don't expect that much traffic from it if that is the hidden agenda.

Just my € 0.02 worth, at the end you decide ;)

I remember missing the Cliesource format when the "big change" occurred. I have grown to enjoy the 1src style though. I love the news items and this is my first stop for all things gadget :)

1). I do think the left column is cluttered. Then again, I enjoy a very simple and clean interface.
2). I do think the 1src news and editorials should all be linked blog style.

I feel that coverage of the Palm WM Treos would be OK. I've been covering WM Treos in the podcast in just enough detail for people to get a feel for what's going on over there. All of the other Palm boards are now covering WM Treos at this point.

I also second the motion to limit or remove the intelliTXT pop-ups.

What about a new logo to go along with it? Could we submit new logos? I'd be glad to do something. Look at my site... http://www.jamerican.net for an example of my work.

I have really nothing special to say about basic 1src but I would REALLY want to get better mobile version of 1src! The mobile version of 1src is just TOO simple if we compare it to this huge 1src. You should remember that we have PDAs with big screen and usually very fast connection so mobile version could have a lot more than just thread view. For smaller screen and slower connection this day mobile 1src is good but not when we have 320x480 screen with netfront loaded uhuhhuuuh.... Anyway you guys could do two mobile versions. One for slow mobile connections and one for netfront optimized or something?

Getting rid of the content in Classifieds and allowing those threads to restart with nothing left around that's older than, say, February 2007, would be a great help.

Late to the party, but I'd like to see Games and Video taken out from under Applications. Not sure how they should be organized if that happens. But it would make it easier at a glance to monitor the main category for new posts.

How about allowing graphics in user's signatures?

Please make this site Blazer friendly. Most of the time I use my Palm to go to this site and normally I use it through Google Mobile Proxy. The forums are impossible, very very hard. The chat doesn't work. If this is a mobile topic site, please make it mobile. Thank you.
