View Full Version : Datebk5 and Colorize

I am using Colorize and Datebk5. This is really nitpicking, but the little view selectors, the template button and the link button don't use the background color that I select with Colorize, while the "New," "Det" and "Go" buttons do. Is there anyway to make this work? Is it a problem with Colorize or Datebk5? The funny thing is, I noticed it when looking at the picture of the Zire 71 on clieplanet (http://www.clieplanet.com). I tried to mimic the color scheme they have there (looks like "Autumn" in Colorize) and noticed the above-mentioned problem. Interestingly, the view selectors DO show up correctly in the standard Datebook application. Any thoughts? :)

For me, the Template button "T" is colorized but the link button is not.

I'm running DateBk version 5.0b, Colorize version 5102 of March 2 2003.

If the selectors are properly colorized in Datebook and not in DateBk then it looks to be a DateBk problem.

What you're noticing here is some behind-the-scenes tweaks that are needed to create DateBk5 with all of it's power but with a look similar to DateBook. For example, CESD wanted to create the view buttons that looked similar to the native DateBook, but he needed to put more boxes in the same amount of space, so he had to draw them himself. For whatever reason related to how the Palm OS works, the "boxes" for the views and the Link button are actually drawn as 4 lines that connect and not as a real box, which is why the system doesn't treat it as a box and fill it in with the background color. Of course, without Colorize or the new color scheme picker in OS 5.2.1, you don't notice this difference.

Ah, thanks for the info. So it seems like it is not something "fixable."

Probably not completely fixable. In the latest beta of DB5, he did change the Template button so it now has the background color. The only ones that don't show it now are the view boxes and the Link button.

The more I think about it, my explanation yesterday was a bit wrong. I think he can't fix the view buttons and the link buttons because of the pictures in those boxes. All the boxes with regular text now have the background color. Regardless, it's something like that.
