View Full Version : "How would you like to sync today?"

Hello all.

Here is what I want to happen:

1. I start a hotsync.
2. A box appears on the computer or PDA screen asking me which sync mode I want.
3. I can choose one of many user set profiles to synchronize.

Example profiles might include:
Complete - Sync everything.
In a hurry - sync contacts, calender, tasks, notes, documents only.
News update - Sync avantgo.
Documents - DocsToGo only (Lifedrive manager in my case).
Install - Only install and install to card.
Backup - Just backup using backupbuddy.
Offline - All but conduits that want an Internet connection.

So if I was in a hurry to get to a lecture but needed to transfer the changes I had made to a word document I could choose the 'Documents' profile and not have to wait for backupbuddy to do it's thing and worldmate and beyond contacts and...

I apologise if this has been suggested before but I haven't read about such a thing either here, on palmaddicts or anywhere else and I think that such a program would be essential for many a palm owner.

So is my idea possible?
If so, has it been done already?
If not, why not?
If it can be done, but hasn't yet. Start coding now!

My eternal gratitude to anyone and everyone who can help me with this.

UltraSoft NotSync (http://www.ultrasoft.com/NotSync/overview.shtml) can sort of do this. You can setup a bunch of Sync Profiles, just like you want, then before you Hotsync, just choose a profile, then Hotsync. This is as close as it gets. It was updated for T5 compatability.

Thanks josser!

i will give it a try right now. it seems cheap enough and from the description you gave and the one on their website it seems to cover what i want.

Thanks again.

other possibilities/suggestions are very welcome.

right, i've installed it and even paid for it but why is it so slow to start?

it takes over 35 seconds to load the program! that seems way too slow to me...

Any other users of NotSync have speed problems?

I use GoSync for this by www.zitafarm.com. That site is down, and has been for a long time, but I believe you can still get it elsewhere (http://www.tucows.com/preview/160038)

thanks socprof. if the sites down does that mean that reg codes can't be obtained?

I'm not really in a position to answer this since I'm not the developer. It's for sale a couple of places on the web. I suggest you do a google search for those sites and e-mail the store to ask how they get you the registered version once you have purchased.
