It wont work right unless I am the administrator user.
(did you know it's **bad** to use any OS day to day as superuser?)
If I am superuser, I can hotsync and open the PIM. If not... no.
The PIM says "Error:Invalid Configuration, Terminating the palm desktop" and does so.
Can't even install if I am not ADMIN, (I am admin... when I want to be)

I believe there is an option when loading the Palm Desktop to install for 'all users' or for 'current user'. If you reinstall using all users, does that solve your problem?

I was carefull to watch for that, I did not see it. I'll re-install later today and look for that again.
thanks.

You will need to install as admin. However, to give non-admin users the ability to use, you may need to do a little work.
Here are a few articles. You might need to make changes, depending on what device (you posted this as "Older Clie") and Palm Desktop version you're using. I seem to be under the impression that newer versions require admin to install, but not use (after 1 successful hotsync from the admin account). But I could be wrong...

I read through all three and tried the "brighthand" method. I made my non-admin user an admin (put him (me) in the Administrators group) and did an install and a hot sync. Everything worked fine, so I took him (me) out of the administrators group leaving only users and powerusers and launched Desktop, ok then hotsynced ok, thel logged out and shutdown and started up and logged in again and tested it again - it works find now.
Yaaay!!!! : ^ ) Thanks all!
