Hi Guys, Maybe someone can answer a question for me. I absolutely love my LifeDrive but now it is giving me fits. I have all the usual reset problems but have had it pretty stable for quite some time. Something caused a reset loop and I had to do a hard reset. Wiped out the ram but left everything on the LifeDrive HD. Some of my programs, such as MicroQuad and SkinUI, etc. have ID's that are created when you open the program. The ID is then associated with the Reg. Key after I purchased the programs. When I first got the LD and started doing Hard Resets, this initial ID would come up the same so that I could just punch in my reg code and the program worked fine. Now all of a sudden with the last hard reset, that initial ID is being changed. So now the registration codes for my purchased programs don't work. Does anyone have a solution for this to get the original ID's back. I really don't want to email every program that I have to get new codes. Thanks for the help. Cindy.

I had the same problem 1 month ago but I don't know how to fix it .
you have to make sure you have the same hotsync id. many reg codes are tied to that....

I have never changed the hot sync ID on my LifeDrive. I haven't even changed the hot sync ID for any of the previous palms I have owned. So I don't think that's the problem. Thanks so much for the reply. I hope someone else can help with this. Thanks again, Cindy.

Never found a work-around. Still, getting a new regkey usually is no problem, since most developers can identify you through the email-address you used when you purchased the software. Simply put your problem to them and they should supply you with a new key. I know Microquad does.

I believe using a piece of software called change name (search google and freeware palm) you can change both your hotsync name and id on the device.
Hope this helps but I've never had the problem so haven't had to try.

I had this happen to me also and my solution was; uninstalled the Palm desktop, the backup file and related palm installed programs. Then I did a hard LD reset, reinstalled the palm desktop and synced the LD. Finally I reinstalled all of my known trusted third party Palm software.
