Does anyone know how to format the NX80V and reinstall software that came preloaded on the NX80V? Any help is greatly appreciated. :)

If I remember correctly, you will need to hold-down the up key on the NX80 and then move the power switch to the on position and hold until it gives you a message about reformatting everything. By reformat of course, it means it sets everything back to the default factory settings. The pre-installed ROM apps will still be there. If the power switch is broken, you can undo the battery and disconnect the battery for around 10 - 15 minutes. This does the same thing.
If you do not have the original CD that came with the NX80, there is a site that has these available for download. I can't remember the URL; maybe someone else does.

Hard reset is pushing in the reset button while holding the up button above the keyboard. Follow on screen prompts to complete the hard reset.

Actually that is not entirely correct on how to reset an NX-80 (which I ahve 2 of)
You have to hold DOWN the power button on the LHS and then while doing that push the reset putton w/ your stylus.
Release the power button after a second (when you see the palm logo) and you will get the question of wether you want to erase all data? and if so THEN you push the up button on the keyboard

It has been awhile since I reset my NX's. I stand corrected.

The reset procedures suggested in this thread did not initially reset the NX80 I was trying to format to oem condition, however, when I release the reset button in conjunction with initially pressing and holding on to the power on switch, the NX80 did a hard reset. All these steps for resetting the NX80 has made me wonder if hard resets differ even amongst identical spec'ed pdas. Maybe same versions of pdas of different manufacture dates have different reset procedures. Thanks for the advice! :D

In the Palm OS world, a hard reset is a hard reset. The procedure for returning a unit to the way it was 'out-of-the-box' has been the same for the Sony and Palm PDAs I have owned.

If it did not hard reset then you did something wrong. ALL NX80's (and all NX series for that matter reset the exact same way)
1. With your NX either ON or OFF
2. slide down the power button (on the LHS) and hold it at the bottom and then (with button held down) press the reset button right under the memory stick slot
3. wait a second until the "PALM" logo shows and then release the power button and you will get the following message
" Erase all Data?"
YES = "up" button (on the keyboard only)
NO = any other button
If you got this message and it did not reset (hard) then you did not push the "up" button on the keyboard
*** the "up" button also is the up arrow between the calander and phone buttons and the todo and memo buttons ABOVE the keyboard NOT the up button with the pink "Pgup"

One other important note that I should add here.....If you do a hard reset as above; it DOES NOT erase flash ROM. So if you have been using JackFlash to move applications to flash ROM on your NX80, those programs will still be there. The hard reset only erases RAM. I know because I have just re-installed my NX80.
