I just installed it on my TX and it works ok but I am getting a quick message each time I open it:
"VFS File open failed 0x0502"
What's that all about?

It's been very stable on my Lifedrive and AFAIK I haven't had any issue with 2PlayMe at all. It just works and does the jobs I need it to quite well.

Hey guys,

I'm trying to figure out how to get 2PlayMe to launch SnapperMail and then immediately send/receive emails.

I've no clue what button resource to enter. Any ideas?

But... what... how...
*sigh*

I was using Bird to poke around at the resources, but had no idea what to look for..

Ok, I tried it. No dice.

Is that the resource ID for "Send/Receive" ?

Snark, where did you find that ?

I just found it now in Bird and shouldn't that be Menu item /M with ID 1018 ?

HC: MBAR is the menubar, the first one with id 1001 seems already to be the good one (I think I started earlier with reverse sorting).
Double-tap that one.
Then double-tap Accounts, and then you see Send And Recieve, shortcut character /M and id 1018.

I just found it now in Bird and shouldn't that be Menu item /M with ID 1018 ? I also used Bird. The main form for SnapperMail has type "tFRM" and ID 1160. When the details of this form is displayed, one can see the "Send/Receive" button with ID 1170.

I guess using the menu ID or the button ID gives the same result.

Okay I give, What is Bird and where can I get it? Bird is an on-board resource editor. You can get it here (http://www.ppcompiler.org/?lng=en).

Take care, you could easily break things if changing things you shouldn't touch, and have to reinstall the application.

You did it Holvy. Many thanks. Now to see if I can't figure out how the heck you used Bird. I must be a bird brain, as I've not gotten that far in it yet. :o

We've also found that leaving Bird resident in RAM, can lead to instability of your device. Use caution.

Ok... Bird just doesn't like to work for me. I double tap MBAR 1001, and nothing changes. Nada. After my first double tap to get into Snapper, double tapping on anything else, changes nothing. Trippe tapping, quadruple tapping, single tapping.. I could tap all night. I see nothin, nada... :(

Ok, something is blocking Bird from working correctly. I launched Bird on a warm reset, and can now see what you are talking about. Dang, I never knew this stuff was out there..

Btw: you can also use PRCExplorer on Windows to find the resource ID:

PS: I've uploaded a slightly enhanced version of 2PlayMe to PalmGear. Especially the timing in enqueue is changed and might work better now.

Maybe you could give some kind of numeric indication that this v of 3.4 is enhanced?
Thanks

Henk,

any chance to also have TCPMP (or any other mp3 player for that matter) included as possible MP3 player ?

MetaView
10-27-2006, 10:53 AM
H,

I don't know a good API for the other ones, except PTunes and APlayer. But I will have a look into TCPMP and maybe any other if someone requests it and it there is any kind of API to call it to do the job. Also I might check the possiblity to use Palm's internal MP3-codec. But 2PlayMe is at a stage where big additions to the alarm/wake up part would mean a greater rework, so it will take its time.

Henk

MetaView: so far the corecodec guys have refused to give people access to the CorePlayer and TCPMP APIs. Coming from a more established software developer, and after they've actually shipped CP though, you might get a different result.

_Em: I will ask them.
tosbsas: yes, more or less, but it looks like there is another small update to do in the next days, as the Network Down doesn't even work for me anymore :-O
Then I will add an "a" to indicate it :-)

Sorry Henk (and everyone else). That was a poor response from me. I had a couple of issues that were probably nothing to do with 2PlayMe and didnt update my post. Just trying out the latest release and it looks rock solid so far!!

Keep these great apps coming!!

Henk,

I just upgrade to 3.4a. I love some of the new features! Maybe you give some pointers to I Love My Mom. He is developing an app he calls Event Launcher, but it does much more than that. I've been beta testing it on my TX, but it is unstable, causes resets, and when I run stability test from flyzip EL causes a reset on my device. I'm sure as one developer to another he would appreciate some guidance.

I have one question that concerns 2PlayMe, Event Launcher and OnLaunch. I have all 3. When I set OnLaunch to launch LauncherX on reset it does nothing, when I do the same with EL it works, and with 2playMe it works also - do you have any idea why? Do they use different calls or something?

EDIT: I noticed in Resco Explorer's notifications list that 2PlayMe registers for SyncStart, LateWakeUp, and SleepRequest while OL registers for ConnectorAttach, ConnectorDetach, DBChanged, DBCreated, SyncFinish, SynStart, VolumeMounted, and VolumeUnmounted - shed any light?

cyberdude

Henk,

Another thing. When there is a reset, the palm does launch LauncherX like I set it to, but it leaves the DIA up for some reason. When OnLaunch was working, a while back, it left the DIA down. And if I use Event Launcher, it Leaves the DIA down. Any Ideas?

Here's how it looks after a reset:

I guess I don't know how to use Bird. I'm trying to figure out how to access the enable checkbox in screenshot5, but I can't seem to find the code using Bird. Any help would be appreciated.

Open Bird, find the app in the list on the left site, double tap the entry, find the tFrm entry in the left on the left site, double tap it and then press preview to see if it is the correct one, use "Launcher" to leave the preview, search for the correct checkbox and use the number next to the checkbox as ID.
